Instead of this train they could have extended the ERS-Banaswadi bi weekly at least. Reaches morning at 4am in SBC and it would have been a good connection for people from CBE,ED etc travelling to Mysuru. Also there is suffficient time in Mysuru before its return journey. In case of 16315/16316 there is hardly any time

Some citizens say project will promote vehicular traffic
The decision to widen the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway into an eight-lane road had evoked a mixed response from the public. While some have welcomed the move stating that it would not only reduce travel time and encourage tourism, others say that the project will be counter-productive as it will promote more vehicular traffic.
On December 29, a group of citizens will be staging a silent protest in the city against the project and demanding more trains between the two cities.
This

will come ahead of the National Highway Authority of India's plan to start work on the project in January next year.
“We are not against widening. But, the road project has taken precedence over other better and environmentally sound solutions, such as more trains between the cities,” said Krishna Prasad, member of Karnataka Railway Vedike.
The project, they said, will lead to unnecessary cutting of trees and acquiring of agricultural land.
“Introducing more trains is a valid demand. We must leverage trains in our tourist circuits. Metro and trains offer easy travel options to Mysuru from anywhere in the city,” said Srinivas Alavilli of Citizens for Bengaluru.
The protesters are expected to hand over a memorandum to officials of South Western Railway.

Problem here is state can show profit only from roadways, state transport, private buses, tolls etc. They don't want to increase trains and divert public to railways, by reducing the road traffic.

The trade body wants the entire Hyderabad Karnataka region under one railway division
Hyderabad Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HKCCI), an association of traders and industrialists of Kalaburagi, Bidar, Yadgir, Raichur and Koppal, has alleged that the denial of a railway division to Kalaburagi is politically motivated. In a memorandum submitted to the general manager of the Central Railway here on Wednesday, Amarnath C. Patil and Shashikanth B. Patil, president and secretary, respectively, of the trade body said the demand was deliberately turned down by terming it a policy matter to be decided by the Railway Board.
“Even

if it is a policy matter to be decided by the Railway Board, why is the issue not being referred to the board?” they said in the memorandum.
They said Kalaburagi, Bidar, Yadgir, Raichur and Koppal districts in the Hyderabad Karnataka region fell in four railway divisions — Solapur, Secunderabad, Guntakal, and Hubballi — that function under three railway zones — South Central Railway, Central Railway, and South Western Railway.
“A request to get a railway amenity like a new train from Kalaburagi to Ballari has to pass through the divisional railway manager in Solapur, the general manager of Central Railway in Mumbai, the divisional railway manager of Guntakal and the general manager of South Central Railway in Secunderabad as the entire area has been fragmented and assigned to different railway divisions and railway zones,” they said, and stressed the need for bringing the entire Hyderabad Karnataka region under one railway division with its headquarters in Kalaburagi.
They have also requested a new train from Kalaburagi to Kolhapur to facilitate pilgrims from Hyderabad Karnataka to visit Kolhapur Mahalakshmi temple.
Pointing to the reservation hassles in Bengaluru-bound Yeshwanthpur–Hassan Express, Udyan Express, and Basava Express trains, the trade body requested introduction of a new train between Bidar and Bengaluru via Kalaburagi, Yadgir, and Raichur.

BENGALURU: For Karnataka which was neglected by railways for decades, C K Jaffer Sharief's tenure in the railway ministry is remembered as the golden period for the state.Sharief, 87, a Congress veteran died in Bengaluru on Sunday afternoon following brief illness. He was the Union minister of state for railways in 1980 when Indira Gandhi returned to power as the Prime Minister. Rail enthusiasts say Sharief was instrumental in modernization of the Indian railways during his tenure as Union railway minister from 1991 to 1995.They say his ambitious conversion of metre-gauge to broad-gauge has helped railways increase its carrying capacity. Karnataka was among the beneficiaries with about 1,000km gauge conversion works out of 6,000km sanctioned for the entire country during his tenure.Rail activists say Sharief also played a vital role in establishment of a new railway zone in Karnataka (South Western Railway), formation of Bengaluru railway division, Rail Wheel Factory in...

Yelahanka, Inland Container Depot in Whitefield and also turning Yeshwanthpur into the third railway terminal for Bengaluru, Railway Recruitment Board in Bengaluru and also introduction of more premium services like Shatabdi, Rajdhani and Express trains from Karnataka.“He was called ‘uni-gauge railway minister’ since he decided to convert metre-gauge, narrow-gauge into broad-gauge so that country can have one single gauge system and most of railway development happened during his time. His demise is a big loss to Karnataka” says rail enthusiast Deepak Ulli.“He was instrumental in rolling out many new trains like Chennai- Mysuru Shatabdi, Bengaluru- Hubballi Shatabdi (now it runs as Jan Shatabdi), Bengaluru- Delhi Rajdhani and Karnataka Express. Without his contribution we would have been stuck 30 years behind to the present context in terms of railway infrastructure” said S Yogendra, another rail fan."He introduced many trains which connected Bengaluru with other states and was responsible for the speedy conversation of Bengaluru - Guntakal and Bengaluru -Mysuru line into broad-gauge" says Krishna Prasad, a rail activist.“He was a visionary in initiating broad-gauge conversion across India during 1990's. He played key role in bringing important railway projects across Karnataka during his tenure with time bound implementation” said Sanjeev Dyamannavar, a commuter rail activist.Sherief also took the initiative of conversion of sections like Bengaluru-Guntakal, Bengaluru- Mysuru and Miraj- Hubballi-Bengaluru to broad gauge, construction of new lines like Chitradurga – Rayadurga and Mangaluru-Roha (Konkan railway) among the few. He also introduced several direct trains to various cities from Karnataka, construction of road over and road under bridges and renovation of several stations. In fact, he also took an initiative for the railways to conduct a techno-economic survey and the project report submitted to the state government for a suburban transport system for Bengaluru in 1983 later paved way for metro rail.
