Sealdah Kanchanjungha Express Accident: Goods train driver was given permission to pass all red signals, reveal internal documents

A goods train collided with the Kanchanjunga Express in West Bengal on Monday, derailing several coaches and causing casualties. An investigation revealed that the goods train driver was authorized to pass red signals due to a failure in the automatic signaling system. The station master at Ranipatra issued a written authority...

(TA 912) allowing the driver to proceed despite red signals. The automatic signaling system had been defective since 5:50 am on Monday, and the station master's decision to issue TA 912 is being investigated. The Kanchanjunga Express departed Rangapani station at 8:27 am and stopped for unknown reasons between Ranipatra and Chattar Hat Junction. The goods train departed Rangapani at 8:42 am and collided with the Kanchanjunga Express at 8:55 am. Initially, the Railway Board blamed the goods train driver, but the Indian Railway Loco Runningmen Organisation (IRLRO) disputed this claim, stating that the driver was authorized to pass red signals. The IRLRO emphasized that the blame lies with the railway administration, not the driver.

Monday ko West Bengal mein Kanchanjunga Express aur ek goods train ki takkar ho gayi, jisse kai coaches derail ho gaye aur kaafi nuksan hua.

Pehle Railway Board ne goods train ke driver ko blame kiya tha, lekin Indian Railway Loco Runningmen Organisation (IRLRO) ne is claim ko reject kiya aur kaha ki driver ko red signals pass karne ki permission thi. IRLRO ne yeh bhi kaha ki blame railway administration pe hai, driver pe nahi.

There is an error in the above News report . Please read "Ranipatra" as "RNI/Rangapani". Rest holds good.

Less than a decade old, Jaipur Metro struggles to stay relevant

Jaipur's metro ridership data is raising questions about the necessity of such expensive infrastructure in smaller Indian cities. The article examines whether the pride associated with metros in cities like Jaipur, Agra, and Lucknow outweighs the lack of profitability and passenger numbers.

Jaipur ka metro ka ridership data yeh sawal uthata hai ki kya India ke chhote cities mein itna expensive infrastructure jaruri hai. Article mein yeh dekha gaya hai ki Jaipur, Agra aur Lucknow jaise cities mein metro se jo pride milta hai, woh profit aur passengers ki kami se zyada hai...

As I had highlighted in an earlier post , the major problem with jaipur metro is the route of current metro and it's frequency. The current route has less takers.

Also , the proposal of extension of the metro to ambabari on one side and sitapura on the other has been shelved by previous governments due to lack of funds and other pretexts since 2016- 2017.

ground , this holds immense potential, as many private minibuses and vans carry college students, workers and labour force from different parts of the city to sitapura industrial area (RIICO) (many factories , educational institutions are located here) via sanganer , tonk road and Pratap nagar .

Hopefully, if the current government prioritised this extension work and it sees light of the day , it would boost the ridership in long run , plus reduce reliance on private transport operators

'In My Train, Non-Ticket Holders Tore Curtains To Use as Mats & Sat on Floor'

On March 15th, a passenger traveling on the Malda Town Anand Vihar Express (Train No. 13429) from Jamalpur, Bihar, to Anand Vihar, Delhi, experienced a harrowing journey due to overcrowding in the AC coach. Despite having a reserved 2-tier AC berth, the passenger encountered several issues, including a woman occupying her...

seat, a lack of space due to non-ticket holders, and constant quarrels between passengers. The situation worsened with the presence of men consuming alcohol, even though it's banned in Bihar. The lack of assistance from railway staff, including the TTE, coach attendant, and RPF, added to the distress. The passenger was unable to use the washroom for 10 hours and felt unsafe due to the chaotic environment. The overcrowding subsided only after the train reached Varanasi Junction, where most of the non-ticket holders deboarded. The passenger's experience highlights the recurring problem of overcrowding in Indian trains and raises concerns about passenger safety and the effectiveness of railway management.

15 March ko, main Jamalpur, Bihar se Anand Vihar, Delhi jaane ke liye Malda Town Anand Vihar Express (Train No. 13429) mein travel kar rahi thi. Mere pass 2-tier AC ka ticket tha. Train mein board hone ke baad, mujhe AC coach mein bahut zyada bheed dikhi, bina ticket wale logon...

se. Mere reserved seat pe ek aurat baithi thi, aur passage mein bahut zyada bheed thi, jisse toilet tak jaana bhi mushkil ho gaya. 10 ghante tak toilet nahi jaa payi, aur safe nahi feel kar rahi thi. TTE, coach attendant, aur RPF se koi help nahi mili. Yahi hal Bihar border tak rehta hai, aur ye bahut shameful hai ki ek expensive ticket leke bhi, aapko apna reserved seat nahi milta. This raises questions about the railway management.
