Notably, a large number of people travel to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during these festivals every year. The Jabalpur Railway Division conducted a rigorous ticket checking drive over a period of six months (April 1, 2024, to September 30, 2024), which yielded a record revenue collection of Rs. 27.58 crore. The drive identified over 1.9 lakh cases of unauthorized travel, resulting in the recovery of Rs. 16.31 crore in fines and fare. Additionally, over 2 lakh passengers were caught traveling in higher classes with lower-class tickets, leading to the collection of Rs. 11.22 crore in fines and fare. The drive also apprehended 3140 cases of passengers traveling with excess baggage, resulting in the collection of over Rs. 5.40 lakh in fines.
