Focus On Vande Bharat, Not On Trains For Poor? What Railway Minister Said

India's 2024-25 budget prioritizes job creation, rural development, and increased funding for states while maintaining a narrow fiscal deficit. Although the budget allocated significant resources to Railways, it lacked major new announcements. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the substantial increase in capital expenditure on Railways over the past five years, noting...

a 77% increase compared to the previous period. He emphasized the significant investments in track construction, electrification, and safety, with a considerable increase in safety-related investments. The Minister also addressed concerns about focusing on high-speed Vande Bharat trains over trains for the less affluent, emphasizing that the Railways cater to both segments. He announced the production of 2,500 non-AC coaches and an additional 10,000 over the next three years to meet the growing demand for affordable travel. Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge criticized the budget, claiming it was weak and did not address issues like accidents and reduced coach numbers, calling it a lack of accountability. The Railway Minister countered these claims by emphasizing the government's commitment to safety and ongoing efforts to improve rail travel.

India ka 2024-25 budget job creation, rural development aur state ko zyada fund transfer karne par focus karta hai, aur saath hi fiscal deficit ko control mein rakhta hai. Budget mein Railways ko aacha kharcha diya gaya hai, lekin koi bada announcement nahi kiya gaya. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw ne pichhle...

paanch saal mein Railways ke capital expenditure mein 77% ki badhotri batayi. Unhone track construction, electrification aur safety mein kiye gaye investment par zor diya, aur safety related activities par kharcha bhi badhaya. Minister ne Vande Bharat trains par zor dene aur garibon ke liye trainon ko ignore karne ke sawal ka jawab dete hue kaha ki Railways dono groups ke liye trains banati hai. Unhone 2,500 non-AC coaches aur agle teen saalon mein 10,000 aur non-ac coaches banane ka announcement kiya, jisse sasta travel ke badhte demand ko pura kiya ja sake. Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge ne budget ko kamzor bataaya aur kaha ki usme accidents aur kam coachon jaise issues par kuchh nahi kaha gaya. Unhone government par zimmedari na lene ka arop lagaya. Railway Minister ne kaha ki government safety par zor de rahi hai aur rail travel ko safe aur secure banane ke liye kaam kar rahi hai.

Why Microsoft outage didn’t affect Indian Railways

A recent global Microsoft outage on Friday did not affect Indian railway services. Ticket issuance for suburban and express trains remained unaffected at booking counters. This was possible because the Indian Railways uses its own passenger reservation system, CRIS, developed in 1999 during the Y2K problem. This system has been periodically...

updated to ensure its smooth functioning and prevent disruptions from external outages.

Friday ko Microsoft ka global outage tha, par usse Indian Railways ke services pe koi asar nahi pada. Suburban aur express trains ke tickets booking counters pe aaram se milte rahe. Ye sab possible hai kyunki Indian Railways apna khud ka CRIS passenger reservation system use karta hai, jo 1999 mein...

Train drivers draw Rahul Gandhi's attention to 'serious safety issues' in Railways

The All India Loco Running Staff Association's South Zone president, R Kumaresan, met with Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, on Friday, to highlight serious safety concerns related to working conditions of loco pilots. The association presented a memorandum detailing issues like excessive working hours, inadequate rest...

periods, continuous night duties, and lack of toilets in locomotives. They claim these factors contribute to human error and accidents. The memorandum emphasizes that loco pilots are often forced to work 14-16 hours a day and are only allowed 30 hours of weekly rest, despite the law mandating 40-64 hours. The memorandum also highlights the detrimental effects of continuous night duties on driver alertness and cites studies suggesting a limit of two consecutive night shifts. Additionally, they point out a 1973 agreement with the government, which stipulated a maximum of 10 hours of work at a stretch, but is allegedly not being adhered to. The association urges Gandhi to intervene and ensure necessary steps are taken to improve safety by addressing these issues.

All India Loco Running Staff Association ke South Zone president, R Kumaresan, ne Shukravaar ko Lok Sabha mein Vipaksh ke neta Rahul Gandhi se mulaqat ki aur loco pilots ke kaam karne ke badtar halat ke baare mein serious safety concerns ko highlight kiya. Association ne ek memorandum submit kiya jismein...

zyada working hours, insufficient rest periods, continuous night duties, aur locomotive mein toilet ki kami jaise issues ka zikr kiya gaya hai. Unka kehna hai ki yeh sab reason human error aur accidents ke liye zimmedar hai. Memorandum mein yeh bhi bataya gaya hai ki loco pilots ko aksar 14-16 ghante kaam karna padta hai aur unhe sirf 30 ghante ka haftyawara rest diya jata hai, jabki kanoon ke mutabik 40-64 ghante ka rest dena chahie. Memorandum mein continuous night duties ke driver ki alertness par negative effect bhi bataya gaya hai aur studies ka zikr kiya gaya hai jismein two consecutive night shifts ki limit ka sujhav diya gaya hai. Iske alawa, unhone 1973 ke ek agreement ka bhi zikr kiya hai, jismein ek samay mein maximum 10 ghante kaam karne ki baat thi, lekin woh agreement abhi tak follow nahi ho raha hai. Association Gandhi se yeh request kar rahi hai ki woh intervene karein aur in issues ko solve karke safety ko ensure karein.
