A WhatsApp message is going viral that claims that all trains operated by the Indian Railways will stop running from December 1. All those people who have already booked their railway tickets for their journeys are in a state of confusion and panic.
New Delhi: A lot of misinformation and fake news has flooded social media ever since coronavirus hit India. However, not all that we read on the internet is true and it's always better to check the facts before believing them. One such WhatsApp message is going viral on social media platforms which claims that all the trains operated by the Indian Railways will stop running from December

The message further states that COVID-19 special trains that were announced by government to ferry passengers amid the coronavirus crisis will also stop operating. Needless to say, all those people who have already booked their railway tickets for their journeys in the coming month are in a state of confusion and panic.

However, there is nothing to worry as the message is totally fake. Refuting such claims on social media, the fact check wing of the Government's Press Information Bureau said that Ministry of Railways has taken no such decision on halting of train services after December 1.

In a tweet, PIB wrote, ''It is claimed in a #WhatsApp forward that all trains including the #COVID19 special trains will stop operating after 1st December. #PIBFactCheck: This claim is #Fake. @RailMinIndia has taken no such decision on halting of train services after 1st December.''

The Press Information Bureau launched this fact-checking arm in December 2019, to curb misinformation and fake news prevalent on the internet. It claimed that its objective was "to identify misinformation related to government's policies and schemes that are circulating on various social media platforms".

The government has time and again, urged people not to share such unconfirmed reports and trust only reliable sources.

Sheer uselessness. 30 people died last year because of fake forwards on Whatsapp. Forwards like "child kidnapping gangs are going into towns and villages" led people to distrust strangers and inadvertently lynch them.

In an unfortunate turn of events, former India captain Kapil Dev had to be hospitalised after he suffered a heart attack. The World Cup-winning captain has undergone angioplasty, according to reports. More details on his health status are awaited.

game, the former cricketer represented India for well over a decade. He had made his debut for India against Pakistan in Quetta on October 1, 1978, before making his Test debut later that month in Faisalabad.

He went on to represent India in 131 Tests, amassing 5,248 runs in addition to picking up 434 wickets. Kapil Dev also represented India in 225, ODIs, scoring 3,783 runs and picking up 253 wickets. His finest moment in the game came in 1983 when he led India to their first-ever World Cup triumph.

Kapil Dev led from the very front as India defied all the odds and beat the mighty West Indies in the final at the Lord’s to register a historic triumph. After retiring from the game in 1994, he served as the head coach of the Indian. He took charge of the team in 1999 but had a forgettable stint with the team.

In his term, India won just one test match (at home against New Zealand) and had two major series losses in Australia (3–0) and at home against South Africa (2–0). He had to resign from the post in the wake of the match-fixing scandal. Later, Kapil Dev was cleared of all the charges.

At his rally, Dilip Ghosh claimed that the West Bengal government had imposed a lockdown so that the BJP could not hold rallies. Corona is over!" Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh has declared. The Bengal BJP president made the sensational claim while addressing supporters at a rally in Hooghly on Wednesday.

Visibly happy with the crowd that had gathered to hear him speak, Dilip Ghosh said, "Didi's [CM Mamata Banerjee] brothers are feeling unwell seeing the crowd here...not due to fear of coronavirus but due to the fear of BJP!

Corona is over! Didi is uselessly imposing a lockdown so that BJP cannot hold meetings and rallies."

"But friends, where ever we go out it automatically turns into a rally," the BJP MP said while the crowd cheered.

Dilip Ghosh's remarks come on the heels of India recording 95,735 fresh Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours -- the highest single-day spike in the world.

On Wednesday, Bengal recorded 3,107 new cases of coronavirus and 53 Covid-19 deaths in the state. Over the past several weeks, the state has been recording around three thousand cases of coronavirus every day.

So far, 3,730 people have died of the virus in the West Bengal while the total number of Covid-19 infections in the state stands at 1.9 lakhs. The district in which Ghosh was addressing his public rally has the fifth-highest number of Covid-19 cases in West Bengal. The rally saw huge crowds gathering in violation of social distancing guidelines with most attendees as well as political leaders not wearing masks.

As per the West Bengal Health Department data, the Hooghly district has recorded 9,293 cases and 158 Covid-19 deaths till September 8.

At Wednesday's rally, Dilip Ghosh was flanked by Hooghly BJP MP Locket Chatterjee, who was herself infected by the virus in July.

The ruling Trinamool Congress, which has been conducting most of its public events on virtual platforms reacted sharply to Ghosh's remarks. Former Bengal minister Madan Mitra said Ghosh was simply "living in denial".

"He is mad. Let me remind him that his party boss [Amit Shah] was infected by Covid-19 recently. Mamata Banerjee does not need a pandemic to gain political points. Coronavirus is very much here and the Bengal government has not received the support of the Central government. The people of Bengal are witnessing how Mamata Banerjee is trying to keep them safe without any central help. They have money but we have people's support," Mitra said.

Despite restrictions on political gatherings due to coronavirus, the BJP had organized demonstrations across Bengal last Friday in protest against the recent deaths of its party workers.

Senior BJP leaders like national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, Mukul Roy, Rahul Sinha and others took part in the "Save Democracy" campaign organised by the party's state unit.
