Western Railway’s Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel are always at the forefront to protect and secure the lives of passengers. RPF WR has launched Operation Yatri Suraksha under which RPF catches criminals involved in passenger-related crimes such as theft and robbery & the accused are handed over to GRP for further legal action. With a focused approach under operation Yatri Suraksha, Western Railway’s RPF is producing excellent results and RPF Mumbai Division has caught 226 thieves and 16 robbery accused in the year 2022 till date.

According to a press release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the RPF has formed special Crime Prevention and Detection Squads (CPDS) at all major stations in Mumbai Division of WR which work intelligently by gathering source information to catch the criminals. These teams collect information from CCTV footages, do the analysis of black spots in and around the stations and also maintains the record of previous criminals. Installation of CCTV cameras at stations in suburban section has helped a lot in identifying the suspects and improving prevention and detection of cases. Last year, more than 2700 new CCTVs have been installed in Churchgate - Virar suburban section while 86 CCTVs were installed at Surat station.

Shri Thakur further stated that in yet another major accomplishment, RPF CPDS staff caught robbers involved in 5 different cases of theft in a single day, i.e. o­n 19thJune, 2022 and handed them over to GRP for further legal action. The CPDS team caught suspected mobile thieves from Malad, Virar & Surat stations while two pickpocketers were apprehended in different cases from Nalasopara & Vasai Road stations. With these excellent results, the RPF is motivated to intensify the drive under Operative Yatri Suraksha in near future.

o­n the occasion of International Yoga Day o­n 21st June 2022 at WR HQs. The 2ndphoto is of Yoga being performed by commuters in the local train while in the 3rdphoto, the staff of Divisional Railway Manager’s Office is seen partaking in a Yoga session. The last photo is passengers performing Yoga at Mumbai Central Concourse Hall.

The 8th International Yoga Day was celebrated all over WesternRailway with great zeal and enthusiasm o­n Tuesday, 21st June, 2022. This supreme form of mind-body discipline and gaiety was observed at WR Headquarters and all the six Divisions as well as Workshop Units, Railway Colonies & Railway Institutes etc. o­n this occasion, Shri Raosaheb Patil Danve – Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways, Coal & Mines participated in the “Yoga for Humanity”celebration of International Day of Yoga which was organized by the Ministry of AYUSH at the precincts of the iconic & Heritage site of Diu Fort.

 According to a press release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the International Day of Yoga celebration was lead by Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi at Mysuru which was live streamed across the country. The same was also  relayed at Godbole Cultural Hall, WR HQs, Churchgate. The Principal Head of Departments and Senior Railway officers of WR partook in the event by performing to the Yogasanas at WR HQs. An unique initiative for spreading awareness among passengers about the benefits of Yoga was carried out by a group of yoga trainers from the organization “Heal Station” who performed various yoga exercises in the local train of Western Railway from Dadar to Churchgate & thereafter from Mumabi Central to Borivali. Commuters were taught how they can utilize their travel time for fitness by doing yoga practices while travelling in local train. The group also held Yoga sessions for the officers and staff of Divisional Railway Managers office at Mumbai Central as well as another session for passengers was conducted in Concourse Hall of Mumbai Central railway station.

 Shri Thakur further informed that Yoga sessions were also organized at all the six divisions over Western Railway where officers and staff alongwith their family members participated in good numbers. Informative & attractive webcards were posted through WR social media handles promoting the benefits of Yoga and how Yoga has brought the world together, reshaping the global values, and is bringing different healthcare systems closer.

 Western Railway appeals all its valued customers to inculcate the habit of practicing Yoga in their daily lives to boost their immunity, which is a major necessity, especially, in the current situation.

One AC 2 Tier Coach and One  AC Chair Car (Double Decker)  coach are augmented to the existing composition of 12 LHB Coaches in Train No. 11085 / 11086 Lokmanya Tilak (T) - Madgaon Jn. - Lokmanya Tilak (T) “Double Decker” Bi-Weekly Express and Train no. 11099 / 11100 Lokmanya Tilak (T) – Madgaon Jn. - Lokmanya Tilak (T) “Double Decker” Weekly Express. Trains will run with a revised composition of 14 LHB coaches on  following days:

Train no 11085 Lokmanya Tilak (T) - Madgaon Jn. “Double Decker” Bi-Weekly Express Ex. Lokmanya Tilak (T) from 20/06/2022 to 27/07/2022 every Monday and Wednesday.

Train no. 11086 Madgaon Jn. - Lokmanya Tilak (T) “Double Decker” Bi-Weekly Express Ex. Madgaon Jn. from 21/06/2022 to 28/07/2022 every Tuesday and Thursday.

Train no. 11099   Lokmanya Tilak (T) – Madgaon Jn. “Double Decker” Weekly Express Ex. Lokmanya Tilak (T) from 18/06/2022 to 30/07/2022 every Saturday.

Train no. 11100 Madgaon Jn. - Lokmanya Tilak (T) “Double Decker” Weekly Express Ex. Madgaon Jn. from 19/06/2022 to 31/07/2022 every Sunday.

press release dated 24/03/2022, it has been decided to extend the cancellation of Train no. 10101  / 10102 Ratnagiri - Madgaon Jn. - Ratnagiri Daily Express on a temporary basis up to 15/08/2022 (Monday) which was earlier cancelled upto 30/06/2022.

Passengers are requested to kindly note the same. Inconvenience caused is regretted.
