As part of the initiative to offer enhanced safety and travelling comfort to the passengers, the Railways is to introduce Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches in the 12624/12623 Thiruvananthapuram Central-Chennai Central-Thiruvananthapuram Central Superfast Expreses from next week.
The rake with LHB coaches will start plying from Chennai Central to Thiruvananthapuram Central on January 18 and from Thiruvananthapuram Central to Chennai Central on January 19, a senior railway official told The Hindu here on Wednesday.
Threes rakes have been made available for the Southern Railway to switch over the LHB coaches for the prestigous
Ya. it is faced by almost all LHBfied train. Most affected are UR travelers.
But EOG's are a lot more energy saving than self generating coaches.
Previous govt was thinking for UR pax so they attached more general coaches in trains bt this govt is insensitive to them.
The Self-generating feature for LHB coaches was a failed experiment. The FIAT bogies were not really designed for attaching alternators and slef-generating equipment. It's either HOG or increasing platform lengths to accommodate longer trains going ahead.
The HOG for WAP4 has been too long in the making. These are the most numerous passenger locos on IR and CLW is very well versed with it's design as they have been building tap changer locomotives for over 45 years! It's really puzzling as to why it is taking so much time to come up with a HOG system at least for the WAP4's.
IR gives a very bad treatment to R&D deptt. and it is considered as a one of the loop lines or dumping grounds of the organisation, as far as the importance and promotional prospect of personnel is concerned.
R&D actually is a higher order job needing very high technical command over the subject and it can be done only by very good engineers only. Operation is on the other hand a routine job which even an uneducated with high IQ, experience & dedication can very well do.
