Similarly in Tamilnadu also some of the Super Fast should be stopped in the major Cities/Municipalities/Town Panchayat Rail Stations for the benefit of the passengers.Example...Nelli SF should have stoppages in TALAIYUTHU Railway station which is a major TP.Some SF should be stopped in ULUNDURPETTAI,THIRUMANGALAM THIRUPPARANGUNDRAM MUNICIPALITIES ETC .Our all the 40 MPs should be demanded stoppages of trains in their jurisdictions Cities/Municipalities/Town Panchayat Stations .

Agree with you...more passenger trains have to be introduced in peak time....season ticket holders can make use of that and spare the long distance ones.

Today's Hindu (11-June,2014) had a small press release which said that the CM of Kerala has urged the Railway minister to reconsider the decision to withdraw stoppages as it would cause hardships to passengers.
So in all probability it would be back to square one. Probably one way railways could have managed it better is to withdraw stops in a phased manner rather than announcing it at one time. I think it was the number of stations that took everyone by surprise hence this hue and cry .

SR deletion drama and withdrawal is a clever move by the SR ,so as to avoid further request for the stoppages of EXP/SF at this juncture.
A general policy decision should be formulated in IR for the stoppages of trains in the MAJOR TOWN pANCHAYAT/ MUNICIPALITIES and CITY stations.
In Tamilnadu major Town Panchayat and even Municipalities are neglected in the stoppages of Exp/SF.

few example station..1) ULUNDURPETTAI MUNICIPALITY in which no Exp/SF has stoppages.2) Tirumangalam MUNICIPALITY ,3) Tirupparangundram 4) Thalaiyuthu TP etc are neglected in providing stoppages of trains.
New MPs may also analyse and demand additional and essential stoppages.
