Nowadays they have made a norm to fit the AC coaches at either the start or at the end of the train so that they cannot be accessed by outsiders(Non-AC ticket holders) and vestibule door closed-some trains have AC coaches in middle owing to bifurcation or slip coach servies of trains(Eg: 6222 kaveri express has a 3A coach and then a general followed by S-12-14 and 2 more AC coaches because the last set of coaches are detached at bangalore city-similar is case with Nilgiri too where coaches are detached at Coimbatore Jn.)

Mr Siddharth is correct in the formation of the trains he has mentioned.
In other trains, the AC coaches are third/fourth in the formation normally because they act as a buffer between the SLR/Unreserved coaches. There is some mention of the fact that by coupling the AC coaches in such a fashion, reduces noise in the AC coaches, (which would be high due to proximity to diesel engines), and also to provide proper platform area when it arrives at stations.
As you would have all noticed during your travels, near the

engine, and at the rear, on the platform where the trains arrive, it is overcrowded with parcels, luggage and other items to be loaded into the luggage compartments, either in the present train, or waiting for other trains. Also the goods are offloaded and kept there for quite some time.
That's the reason why NORMALLY SL and AC coaches come between the SLR/UR coaches at both ends. As for the inconvenience to the Unreserved passengers, there is the buffer of the SLR and the luggage van/coach.
Good wishes.

Sir, Kindly check ur logics!!
1. SLR/GN are @ Front & Rear, to provide troublesome movement through Vestibule, across Reserved Coaches!!
2. AC Coaches @ extreme end of SL Coach Series, to facilitate unhindered movement for SL Class, anytime, even whn AC Coach Vestibule are closed @ night. For the same purpose, Pantry Car too mostly is attached with AC Coaches (as they too shut the vestibule opening down)
3.

Many PF are small & normally SLR/GEN along with 1 or 2 adjacent AC Coaches cross PF.
4. If Parcel/Luggage/Crowd are the issue, then AC Coaches would be attached in middle normally, which isnt been done!!
5. Further, while u alight @ station (casually for tea), adjacent coach been GEN, makes u feel stinky (overcrowd, noice & overused washroom). So again its not about Passenger conveinance, but IR Conveinance!!
etc etc...

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
