I have a suggestion which will benefit Bangalore to Mumbai travellers. Pointwise explained below:
1. SWR to take over this train from CR and run upto LTT as SF.
2. YPR dep 2050 SUR 0815/0830 LTT arr 1530. This can return as LTT UBL express at 2030.
3. UBL LTT express arriving at LTT by 0700 can return as LTT YPR...
more... SF departing at 1200. SUR 1900/1920 and YPR 0645.
Advantages include less idling of rake at Mumbai. Great advantage will be a SF train in Mumbai Bangalore sector. Entry and exit from Mumbai will be in off peak hours. LTT can receive 23 coach train.
Railways can also explore LTT UBL extension upto Bangalore. Something like YPR 0930 UBL 1615/1630 LTT 0700. LTT DEP 2030 UBL 1015/1030 YPR 1715. Now LTT UBL is a 14 coach train, but if coupled with YPR SUR LTT train as proposed above, it will become 23 coach train. So no quota loss for Hubli Belgaum also. If this also materialises, we can get 2 daily trains - one via KLBG SUR and another via DVG UBL to Mumbai.
