Removal of thorns is being intensified to rebuild the Rameswaram-Dhanushkodi railway line.
Dhanushkodi is an area 21 km away from Rameswaram which was devastated by a typhoon. Similarly, there was a rail link between Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi till 1964. The Dhanushkodi area, the largest industrial city, was completely devastated by the December 23, 1964 storm and terrible sea rage.
The Dhanushkodi-Rameswaram...

Similarly, the Central Government has given permission for the reconstruction of the Rameswaram-Dhanushkodi railway line. This was followed by the first phase of soil survey work along the coast for the construction of the Rameswaram-Dhanushkodi railway line last year.
In this context, a survey of the Rameswaram-Dhanushkodi railway line is to be carried out. The work of clearing and cleaning the plants including wild oak trees growing in the coastal areas between Dhanushkodi Kambipadu to Mukundarayar Chatram and Gotanda Ram Temple along the railway line is in full swing.
A senior railway official said: -
3 railway stations
Work on the 18-km Rameswaram-Dhanushkodi railway line is set to begin soon. Starting from the Rameswaram railway station area, the new line will be 18 meters north of the road to Dhanushkodi. The new railway line is planned to run from Rameswaram to Jada Theertham, Gothandramar Temple, Mukundarayar Chatram to Dhanushkodi Kambi Padu.
It has also been decided to set up 3 railway stations on this new railway line. There are plans to set up railway stations at 3 places namely Jada Theertham, Mukundarayar Chatram and finally Dhanushkodi.
Due to the rough seas and currents in the Dhanushkodi area, the work will be carried out to sustain the railway tracks for over 100 years.
Thus he said.
