After Composition change, Railways will earn MAXIMUM Profit as more people will take 3AC coaches. SL coaches has always been loss making for railways as Railways find that people who can afford 3AC book sleeper coaches. So it is trying to maximize 3AC bookings

more... than ICF ones, so Railways is anticipating more crowd in general compartments of the train.
Please remember to tick the option "Auto-upgrade" while you book sleeper class tickets, so you can get to travel in 3AC coaches if any of them are vacant.

But I do NOT agree with this way of Railways of Increasing Revenues. Instead railways can run more Humsafars or Durontos with Sleeper coaches with 15/30% extra sleeper class charges. this way Sleeper class passengers can pay more & can also afford the fare.
the Root cause behind the FINANICAL TROUBLES of the Railways is that The various costs keep increasing such as Manpower cost due to implementation of 5th pay commission, then 6th & then 7th pay commission, whereas the Fares have undergone NEGLIGIBLE/VERY MINIMUM change, no government wants to make a very substantial increase in sleeper or UR fares. All this is just done to MAXIMIZE PROFIT.
