What is token system in the Passenger Reservation System (PRS) ?
This system is installed to provide respite to the passengers standing in serpentine queues at the PRS counters to get reservation.
Under the system, the passenger will have to fill the reservation form and after that approach the token counter. The personnel sitting at the counter would take the reservation form and allocate a token number to the approaching passenger. The token number would get printed on the reservation form along with the date and time when the token was issued.
After...
more... that, he would sit in the seating arena. The token display board would show the counter number on which the required person should go and get the reservation ticket. They would now no longer be required to undergo the ordeal of standing in the long queue but would pass their time by sitting on the chairs.
However, if the passenger fails to go to the required reservation counter within the allocated time of 10 minutes, his number would go to the skip board and another person in the list would be given preference. In the skip board, he would be given a new counter number. However, if the passenger fails to approach even this counter within the prescribed time, then he has to repeat the whole process and get a new token number.
