Do not dream of Vande Metro from Howrah to Haldia, SER will not run.
From last many years passengers of Haldia demanding a EMU train from Haldia to Midnapore that too SER not interested to run. Forget about VM.

Many years back there was an Intercity train Howrah-Haldia Azad Exp which had morning departure from Haldia and Evening departure from Howrah. That train used to run empty, then later it got shifted to Shalimar with only 3 coaches then finally it got permanently cancelled by SER. After that there was no intercity train given by SER from HLZ to Kolkata.
I am very doubtful whether SER will run any ICE or VM from Haldia to Howrah.

Today I had a discussion with my father about railways in his childhood and his career starting. My father native place is Eluru 60km from Vijayawada towards Visakhapatnam.
He came to Visakhapatnam in 1974-1975 for taking up job, at that time the following trains are running
1. Madras Howarh mail (premium pirority train used to run with diesel engine)
2. Madras Howrah janta

5. Hyderabad Visakhapatnam Godavari Express in 1974

Passenger trains
1. Hyderabad Puri passenger.( not sure when it was cancelled)
2. Visakhapatnam Madras passenger morning dep morning arrival in Madras
3. Visakhapatnam Madras evening dep evening arrival Madras. These 2 passenger trains are later cutoff to Vijayawada
4. Kakinada Tirupati passenger
5. Eluru Rajahmundry passenger in early 1960s
Visakhapatnam Madras and Kakinada Tirupati used to run from 1950s when he was in school. Travelled in Madras passenger in 1956 for 3 times from Eluru to Madras and regular commute in Tirupati passenger from Nidadavolu , Tadepalliguem, Eluru to Tenali to his grandmother house in childhood.

Doubling of Visakhapatnam Rjy section took place in after 1967-70 period while Vijayawada Machilipatnam Bhimavaram Nidadavolu line board Guage conversion completed in 1962. So they tookup doubling of Kovvur Nidadavolu doubling in 1962. My gramdfather is the Tharsildar for land acquisition of doubling and track construction of 15km completed in 6 months. Circar express was introduced in 1964 via BVRM from kakinada to Madras and via Guntur.
During 1968-72 used to travel in Guntur Guntakal Hubli night passenger upto Dhone and then take bus to anantapur.

Passenger trains are then like our present intercity express catering to unreserved passemger but were late and more travel time. In mail, East coast or even Janta express the unreserved compartments used to be one in either ends and to travel to standing from Eluru to Visakhapatnam. Even after 50 years the situation is same in unreserved coaches of long distance trains.

Bhusawal halt dene ka main reason technical hai. Crew change. Bhusawal se crew by road jaata tha till Jalgaon everyday which was very tedious. Waha ka loco pilot lobby ka ye demand tha. And Jalgaon being a district HQ deserves the halt. Aur koyi reason nahi hai itna short distance par 1 prestigious Rajdhani ko halt dene ka. Waise bhi iska schedule and run bahot tight hai. Aur extra halt se dono taraf termination points pe time badh jayega.

recently travelled in Patna Tata Vande Bharat from Patna to Bokaro. Due to 1.5 hr late arrival of 20893 (exactly at the time of departure ), 20894 departed from PNBE with a 30 min delay.
We were maintaining flat 110km/h speed without even slowing between PNBE & GAYA.

After 8 min halt at GAYA, moving through the ghat section we entered GMO. I even spotted a CR marked Deccan Queen coach at the outer. We had to wait for a while at GMO as 18104 ASR TATA had just departed.

Again we halted at Tupkadih because 18104 was occupying the platform at BKSC. we arrived at Platform 3 where 18104 actually overtaked 20894 from Platform 2 😐😐

MTJ isn't a that big junction/ place. Also, there being proximity to Delhi, it's easy to skip.
NDLS is probably skipped by YPR Duronto only, which is a Delhi train itself.
MGS was probably never skipped by any train, being one of the biggest junctions in IR, with watering and other facilities.
