Kerala train commuters decry overcrowding as Railways prioritize premium services

reduction in general compartments and the increase in AC coaches, along with the sale of sleeper tickets until train arrival, have created a situation where even reserved passengers face difficulty finding seats. The removal of de-reserved facilities has also negatively impacted daily commuters. Passengers are demanding more Antyodaya Express trains and MEMU trains to cater to the increased demand. While railway officials claim sufficient train services are available, passengers are highlighting the lack of trains on crucial routes like Ernakulam-Thrissur and Shoranur-Kannur. The Southern Railway has introduced 239 trips of special trains on 19 routes to address the summer rush.

General compartments kam karne aur AC coaches badhane se, aur sleeper tickets train aane tak bechne se, reserved passengers ko bhi seat dhundne mein problem aa rahi hai. De-reserved facility hataane se daily commuters ko bhi dikkat ho rahi hai. Logon ki demand hai ki zyada Antyodaya Express trains aur MEMU trains chalaaye jaayen, taaki increasing demand ko pura kiya ja sake. Railway officials ka kehna hai ki kaafi trains available hain, lekin passengers Ernakulam-Thrissur aur Shoranur-Kannur jaise routes pe trains ki kami ki baat kar rahe hain. Summer rush ko dekhte hue Southern Railway ne 19 routes pe 239 special trains chalaane ka decide kiya hai.
