Why not extend this train till Ludhiana Junction with halts at Panipat and Ambala on extended portion ?
Industrial Cities would get connected.
Ludhiana would get additional Mid Day Premium Option from/to New Delhi. New Delhi would get rid of stabling the rake.
Timing especially in return would automatically switch to Late Evening Departure from New Delhi towards Kanpur. Giving people more diversified option...

instead of departing 3 Premium Seating Trains one after another within a span of 1 Hour. All eating up each other's occupancy.
One cannot change timing of Vande Bharat or Tejas given distance they cover but Kanpur Shatabdi timings can be changed easily to accomodate extended route.
