Anakapalle MP Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao has sought provision of better passenger amenities at Anakapalle and Elamanchili Railway Stations of South Central Railway (SCR).
A meeting of MP s, whose constituencies were falling under the limits of SCR Zone, was held in Vijayawada on Tuesday.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao submitted a memorandum to SCR General Manager Vinod Kumar Yadav seeking among other things: providing halts to Nanded-Visakhapatnam, Amaravathi Express (18048/47), Howrah-Yesvantapur, Visakhapatnam-Kollam, Coromandal Express, Falaknuma Express Visakhpatnam-Mumbai LTT Express and Visakhapatnam - Gandhidham Express at Anakapalle. Naresh, a government employee living in Anakapalle, and Achari, a teacher living in Vizianagaram, who commute to the city daily for work, find the lack of local trains a curse for commuters.
“Though there are trains from Anakapalle to Visakhapatnam, they do not match the actual demand. I have to board either 57271 BZA- Rayagada Passenger or 57255 Kakinada - Vizag EMU, which are already packed to capacity with hardly any space to get in,” says Naresh.
