This is because these trains have been experiencing delays for several years. Recently, during a 36-hour block at CSMT, some Konkan-Mumbai trains were partially cancelled. The affected trains are: Train No. 16346 Thiruvananthapuram to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Daily Netravati Express, Train No. 16345 Netravati Express running between Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Thiruvananthapuram, Train No. 12620 Matsyagandha Express running between Mangalore Central to Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, and Train No. 12619 Lokmanya Tilak Terminus to Mangalore Central Matsyagandha Express.

Madgaon-Thokur stations. While full doubling is not feasible, they are hopeful of receiving approval for patch doubling. Doubling tracks on flat stretches costs Rs 15-20 crore, while in hilly terrain, the cost escalates to Rs 80-100 crore. The KR operates 52 passenger trains and 18 goods trains daily, with a double line already existing for 50 km between Roha and Veer stations. In FY 2022-23, KR's turnover exceeded Rs 5,000 crore for the first time, and they earned a net profit of Rs 279 crore. KR plans to enhance passenger amenities, carry more freight, and launch new projects. To handle the surge in passenger traffic during Ganpati festival, they aim to increase the number of special trains.

Flat stretches pe track doubling ka cost Rs 15-20 crore hai, lekin hilly terrain mein yeh Rs 80-100 crore tak jaata hai. KR har din 52 passenger trains aur 18 goods trains chalata hai, Roha aur Veer stations ke beech mein 50 km ka double line pehle se hi hai. FY 2022-23 mein, KR ka turnover Rs 5,000 crore se zyada hua, jo pehli baar hua, aur unhone Rs 279 crore ka net profit kamaya. KR ka plan hai ki woh passenger amenities improve kare, zyada freight carry kare, aur new projects launch kare. Ganpati festival ke duran passenger traffic mein badhotari ko handle karne ke liye, woh special trains ki number badhane ki planning kar rahe hain.

After coastal Karnataka, people in Maharashtra’s Konkan region demand merger of Konkan Railway with Indian Railways

The Samithi, in a letter to the Railway Minister on November 30th, detailed KRCL's inadequacies, highlighting the need for integration of the Roha-Madgaon and Madgaon-Mangaluru sections with Central and South Western Railways, respectively. They argue that merging KRCL would enable quicker implementation of projects, facilitate seamless travel between Mumbai and Konkan and between Karnataka and Bengaluru, establish a freight corridor along the West Coast, and develop terminal facilities at Sawantwadi, Ratnagiri, and Karwar. The Samithi also criticizes KRCL's 40% passenger and 50% freight surcharge, arguing that merging with Indian Railways would alleviate this burden. Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg MP Vinayak Raut has also voiced his support for the merger, writing to the Railway Minister on December 6th, stating that KRCL's limitations are hindering the Konkan region's growth.

Good request. Does any member know as to what is the reason why IR is not merging KR with it ? Is there some contribution in KR from the states of MH, Karnataka, Goa and Kerala ?

KR Funding: 51% by central government, 22% by Maharashtra, 15% by Karnataka, 6% by Kerala, 6% by Goa.
Maharashtra and Karnataka got nothing from Konkan railways.
For MH, till today, no daily trains from Konkan Region to Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Nanded etc.
For Karnataka, till today, no train from Canara (coastal karnataka) to Hubli, ...

Ballari, Gulbarga, Bidar, Belgium etc.
For Goa, they got additional zone but no trains. No trains from Goa (Vasco/ Madgaon) to Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Solapur etc. SWR plays it's own games.
Maximum benefit taken away by Kerala, with 6% contribution. All trains originate/ ending Kerala.
To our bad luck, Mangalore is in SR. CR limit is only after Roha. So, both are not bothered about Konkan railways stretch.
Better to merge KR Karwar division to SWR, Ratnagiri division to CR, along with Vasco to RN division of KR.
