The proposal, initially made in 2021, highlighted the difficulty of direct travel to Delhi from Sonbhadra, which borders four states. The Ranchi Rajdhani Express currently operates only once a week but is planned to increase to three times a week. Additionally, it will have stopovers at Sonbhadra (district headquarters) and Chopan Junction, simplifying Delhi travel for residents of Sonbhadra who previously had to travel to Varanasi or Mirzapur for Delhi-bound trains. Additionally, they requested an underpass construction at Khambe number 168/4 on the approved Unpara-Mirchadhuri rail route. Meanwhile, residents of Shaktinagar met the DRM Dhanbad and railway board officials to voice their concerns. They highlighted the traffic congestion caused by the presence of numerous companies in Sonbhadra-Singrauli and demanded the resumption of the Shaktinagar-Varanasi Intercity, scheduling its departure at 10 pm from Shaktinagar to reach Varanasi by 4 am.
