The construction of a foot overbridge (FOB) at Jugsalai railway crossing is set to begin within a week. 3-foot wide FOB at a cost of ₹1.75 crore. This will require the removal of around a dozen shops. The FOB was initially planned to be 15 meters long, but the length was extended due to the planned construction of the third and fourth railway lines. This FOB will benefit thousands of pedestrians, school students, and people travelling to Jugsalai from various areas including Jugsalai, Baghbera, Baroda Ghat, Harharguattu, and Rani Dih. The demand for an FOB at this crossing dates back to 1973. Local representatives organized protests and demonstrations, and social, commercial, and passenger organizations also met with the Railway General Manager. The current situation requires pedestrians to cross the tracks risking their lives to avoid the 800-meter long flyover, which was inaugurated by the former Chief Minister. This has resulted in numerous injuries to pedestrians, including women, men, and students, who fall onto the tracks. The commencement of the FOB project has generated excitement among the local population, who anticipate that over 2 lakh pedestrians will benefit from it.

dukaane hatengi.
