Electrical Department would have known this all along, yet this report became Public AFTER elections.
On Pune-DD line, EMU's were refused to be operated citing one of the reasons given i.e. low level Platforms, yet for so many months nobody spoke up about the same issue for KYN-NK EMU.
Just like their 'promised' local to Alibag, this also wound up being an election gimmick.

This is just an excuse to avoid the work. as usual CR shows thet it is not at all interested to solve the issues partaining to its jurisdiction. What officials were doing in all these days when they knew that clearence was very less between tunnel wall and coach? They could have approached Rly board for approval of budget for tunnel widning. Its not that expensive also.
And 2nd point is, instead of using non-AC local, they can use AC local. Thus no pax will get injured at all.

Width of MEMU trains is same as EMU? if less then why they can't run MEMU instead of EMU?
