History of the train:

The main introduction of this train was to get back the Chennai-Bangalore Mail back to its primary maintainence station of Chennai Central instead of idiling the whole day at Bangalore City.Would leave Bangalore city at 6:30AM to reach Chennai at 1:45 PM. Return journey the train would come Chennai Bangalore Express leaving Chennai in afternoon(1:00PM) and reaching Bangalore at night(around 8:30PM) in the early 1990's. It was the day time train that had Sleeper and 2A coaches. But only 3 SL were reserved the remaining being Unreserved.

One of the Unreserved coaches of Mail was a seating reservation coach for this train (S-3 coach)

Around 1995 Lalbagh Express came into existence. Used to leave at 8:30AM t0 reach Chennai at 2PM with just 2 stops enroute. Later both the trains exchanged timings with Lalbagh leaving at 6:30 to reach Chennai at 12 and in return leaving chennai at 4PM to reach Bangalore at 9:30PM. Express timings was changed to leave Bangalore at 8AM to reach Chennai at 3PM the return journey not changed.

In 1999 April The Rake share was changed. Both Mail and Express shifted to Bangalore division owing to which the RSA was changed between Express and Lalbagh and the same continues till today. Mail shared rakes with Karnataka Express which too belongs to Bangalore division. In 2006 both Mail and Express were converted to superfast owing to speeding up of timings.

It was not the daughter of MLA Mr. Siddarth it was the Daughter of then Railway Minister Mr. C K Jaffer Sharieff, who studied at VEC. It it bcos of him the SBC-MYS got BG Line. Until then it was in MG. None of our Ministers tried to get BG for MYS (that's what I've heard, may be wrong also). Mr. CKJ got many trains for Karnataka. The Shatabdi (2007/8) ran bcos of him . The Electrification of JTJ and SBC was done by Mr. CKJ.

Is there any possibility to extend this train upto Bhuj ?
Because it is convenient to have a direct train between Bangalore and Bhuj.

Last week happened to travel by this train between MAS and SBC. It reached SBC almost 45 mins late. What I heard from regulars is that this is the usual of this train.

Is there any particular reason why this happens to this train and not to Lalbagh which always reaches correct time.

TT will clash at MAS end both the ways due to PF availability and other issues like shunting at MAS during peak hours and slot within SR. Moreover, I dont think regular commuters will accept this extension. There is no dedicated train for MAS after 12610. If extended, DD would be the only option available. But majority of the people rely on Brindavan only especially due to its timings.

It is possible to solve TT issues, if there is a will. Anyway, I give another option. MAS 0630 SBC 1215 MYS 1430. Then leave MYS by 1500 SBC 1715 Salem 2145 via HSRA. Next day leave SA by 0600 SBC 1030 MYS 1245. Leave MYS 1315 SBC 1545 MAS 2145.
Advantages include a daily daytime ICE connecting MYS SBC to Salem. Also name Brindavan gets justified only when it touches Mysore.
