A newbie WAP-7 of Krishnarajapuram (KJM) !!!

After having many many WAG-9HCs alloted to it's shed, SWR's Diesel Loco Shed Krishnarajapuram (DLS-KJM) gets two new WAP-7s, with the latest one being the WAP-7 #37608 . This remains the latest WAP-7 launched into service and also to KJM Shed, SWR.

here is the newbie KJM WAP-7 #37608 in charge of hauling ...

Train No: 16592
Mysuru (MYS) -- Hubballi (UBL)
Hampi Express [ via Guntakal (GTL), Bellary (BAY) ]

... parked at PF-5 of Mysuru Junction (MYS). The train's departure was at 6:50 PM on the same day.

Date: 24th June 2023
Time: 5:30 - 5:45 PM
Camera: Vivo T1 (5G)

As per the IRFCA details, this particular locomotive was manufactured in 5th May 2023 and was manufactured by Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW). The locomotive looks fresh and over a month old !! Also to add it's the 25th WAP-7 of DLS KJM.

Also, this WAP-7 looks unique with it's lower body framework (that supports the bogies and other underlying components) painted in grey colour, rather than the usual black. It's like a WAP-7 wearing grey pants rather than black.

Spotting this new star was a complete surprise, and that 'grey coloured framework' attracted me to spot it. Later I learnt that it was the latest addition to the shed.

Request the Admin to update the details of the same ...

Also will be sharing the loco notching and idling sounds (cooling fan sounds) whilst idle.

Useful Great Useful
Hello everyone, I will be sharing some picturesque information about the ongoing developmental works at Ashokapuram (AP) Railway Station in Mysuru.

The main aim of the development of Ashokapuram (AP) is to facilitate the berthing capacity at Mysuru, reduce the burden of saturation at Mysuru (MYS) by extending few possible trains to the station, and eventually make it convenient for train travellers from central and south Mysuru to utilize the developed facility, instead of traveling 8-10 kms to the main station.
...

The inauguration of the newly developed railway station of Ashokapuram will be on August 15th 2023 (Independence Day). Although, it can be subject to change.

The developmental works at Ashokapuram include :-

1) Yard modelling works for proper alignment of workshop yard as well as the backyard.

2) Construction of new Island Platform PF-4 & 5. The existing PF-1 to PF-3 are rebuilt with extending PF-1 towards Mysuru (MYS) side and Island platforms PF-2 & 3 extended towards Chamarajanagar (CMNR) side.

3)The existing PF-3 and new PF-4 tracks will be connecting both Mysuru (MYS) and Chamarajanagar (CMNR) sides. PF-5 will be connected only to MYS side but a separate dead end on CMNR side.

4) Remodelling of Workshop yard line, by building 2 new sets of shunting tracks next to PF-1 and main line, on the CMNR end.

5) Building another long shunting line next to PF-5 track line, which is dead end towards CMNR side and connected to rest of the platforms on MYS end.

6) Building of new second entry building in the backyard (not connected to the Platform)

7) Extension of the existing Foot over Bridge (FOB) from Island Platform 2&3 to Island platforms 4 & 5 to the second entry building.

Presently, the track remodelling works are over and new platform track lines are ready. The construction works for new 2nd entry building, new platforms 4 & 5, extension works of FOB, building of new Enroute Carriage Watering Systems for PFs 3,4 & 5, and other passenger friendly amenties are still going on. Electrification works are also going on and is disrupted due to remodelling works.

As per the plan, PF-1 & 2 will be utilized for trains running between MYS & CMNR, and PFs 3, 4 & 5 will be used for extended trains from MYS.

I will be sharing my personal renders of the railway station layouts, before and after remodelling. Will also share the pics with some markings.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
IMPORTANT !!

I personally request the admin to update the following information about Ashokapuram (AP) railway station.

Old station - 3 PFs -- PF-1 & 2 connected to both MYS & CMNR sides, PF-3 connected only to MYS side.

New station - 5 PFs -- PF-1, 2, 3 & 4 connected to both MYS & CMNR sides, PF-5 connected only to MYS side.

I request the admin to update the number of platforms of AP to be '5 - five' instead of '3 - three'

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Hope you all liked about the information.

Yes sir, there are proposals but still it's really difficult to make build double line between Mysuru (MYS) and Ashokapuram (AP). Particularly in and around Chamarajapuram (CMJ) Halt railway station, there is very little or no space to build a parallel track. There's the backyard of Old Court of Mysuru on one side of the track and a public school and a road on the opposite. Also, there's Kannegowdana Koppal (K.G Koppal) area with many houses nearer to the railway track, which makes it difficult for railways to build double tracks.

Honestly,

I also preferred the same idea of a dual line between MYS and AP, but sadly, there are lots of space constraints, particularly at CMJ

Re# 5750244-9
Kind of yes ... Because it's the first railway station 'with loop lines' that you'll get after Mysuru (MYS). Actually, there's a halt station in between MYS and Ashokapuram (AP) called Chamarajapuram (CMJ).

If you come from Bengaluru (SBC) or Hassan (HAS) sides to Mysuru and continue further towards Nanjangud (NTW) and Chamarajanagar (CMNR), you'll get CMJ, then AP.

Spotting the beautiful and special liveried Green EMD twins from Golden Rock !!

These surprise visitors from Tamil Nadu, hauled a BCNA train to Mysuru (MNGT). They came via Kerala, Mangaluru, Hassan, and reached MNGT today afternoon.

Rock (GOC) WDG-4 #12527 in Special GOC ALCo livery AND GOC WDG-4 #12806 which bears normal yet dark green livery, MUed together, are seen shunting the BCNA train rake sometime after arrival. The EMD twins were continuously reversing and leading the BCNA train for some time.

Date: 10th June 2023
Time: 2:45 PM - 2:55 PM
Camera: Lenovo K8 Note

Thanks to Erode (ED) based RFs and my local RFs who updated the link of this freight train arriving to Mysuru. Henceforth, it was possible to spot. I wished to spend more time and spot these locomotives. But time constraints and endless shunting process had made me to take some pics and leave.

I don't know what is the further duty of the EMD twins, probably return back the same way they did.

I really liked the unique stenciling of WDG-4 12527 which is on the either ends of the cab instead of lying just below headlights. Indeed spotted the 'Pachai' EMDs today.

Also will be sharing the loco notching and idling sounds while shunting the goods train while forwarding and reversing.

Hope you guys liked it !!

A rare surprise visitor from Hubballi !!
A GOLDEN OCHRE WDG-4 !!

It was an unexpected surprise, that this locomotive not only came to Mysuru but went ahead upto Nanjangud and returned back.

Featured here are the photos of Golden Ochre (a.k.a Mango livery) Hubballi (UBL) WDG-4 #12005 MUed with UBL WDG-4 #70072 , resting in the afternoon at Ashokapuram (AP), Mysuru.

Both the locomotives hauled a BCNA freight towards Nanjangud Town (NTW) today morning and returned back light to Mysuru in the afternoon. Eventually, the light EMD twins took on the newly built Platform-3 line of Ashokapuram (AP) and were switched off.

THE UNEXPECTED INCIDENT ...
Spotting this rare locomotive was a pleasure, but was a bad experience because soon I was caught red-handed by one RPF. He tried to grab my phone and held my hand tight and behaved weirdly. I pleaded him and tried my best telling him I'm a train enthusiast, but he never let me free. He forced me to pay the fine of 2000/- but I never had a single penny. Eventually, he forced me to open any identity credentials. I obliged and he took the pics of the softcopy of my passport and warned me not to come here forever.

Eventually my photos are saved, but I'm NOTED for sure. Please tell me is there anything wrong in taking pics of a locomotive ?? Is it offensive ??

-------------------------------------------------

I observed the Mango liveried #12005 in lead, and #70072 in trailing, hauling the BCNA freight towards Nanjangud at 9AM from my home window. But the return time of the light locos after dropping freight was uncertain. Thanks to my other fellow RFs who went and spotted the trains and informed about them resting at Ashokapuram (AP). Henceforth this spotting was possible. Though, the ending was very bad.

Since the locos were in OFF state, I couldn't record their idling sounds. Sorry for that.

INDEED a Bittersweet (or Sweetbitter) experience.

Spotting of a Dark Bleed-Blue WDP-4 !!

Happy and satisfied to spot the Police bus EMD !! One of my favorite liveries, wished to see it in Long Hood Front (LHF). Could've taken more photos but the train stopped only for 1 minute, henceforth less photos.

I had already observed the loco link of the same train from my home when it went to Nanjangud as Train No: 06300. It was a dark-liveried EMD, henceforth I assumed could be a WDP-4D or a WDP-4.

It shares RSA with Dharwad Express (17301/17302).

Will also share the departure acceleration sounds of WDP-4 #20062 as well. Headphones recommended.
