who ever has travelled in Indian Railways has surely come across the menace of stinky toilets. All measure have been taken but results little or not effective.
I have noticed that most of the problem of stinky toilets can be solved if if people flush after use. And inspite of all the corrective measures, most of the travelers are still no flushing the toilets after use.
How about an auto-flush system everytime the toilet door is closed ? or may be some sort of an automated switch which flushes the toilets

sir,
more water consumption for achieving higher hygiene levels will not be costly and illogical. already lot of water wastage happens at various stations (the leaky/broken taps on platforms)
.
we can reduce the amount of water flushed automatically, we can also set time intervals to auto flush .
.

Hygiene and Cleanliness is a territory where railways is sliding. I think more flushing of toilets will exponentially improve the cleanliness levels in trains

if judicious use of water is indeed such a high road block, then why not store and use the water drained from wash basins to flush the loo ?

Absolutely agree. . . The water which is being used for train washing , can be recycled and use for Toilets in train and at the stations

What i mean here is most times train tank is in dearth of water, either unfilled or semi filled and under such circumstance, the auto flush system will exhaust tank water quite faster....already no or less water will lead water getting exhausted faster, leading to again the same issue of hygiene with await of next Junction, where water refill occurs!!
Apparently this means train has to stop more for the same purpose & frequent water refill points need to be sanctioned in train route!!
Further, washroom isnt used just for defecation of solid
...

but liquid relieve happens quite often,,,,closing door will lead dual flush (close-in & close-out) & just for liquid sanitation, such water flush is simply water wastage!!

In this country many don't know which side to seat there.
The size of washrooms are small and LHB in particular are very small.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
