There are regular MEMU/DEMU services operating similar distances. But this one is Air-conditioned and skipping a lot of intermediate halts like a regular Intercity Express does and makes the name 'Metro' redundant.
I guess this is made to replace Intercity trains.

The MAQ- MAO VB should be replaced by a Vande Metro as it skips to many in between stations. It mostly has below 50% occupancy.

Yes. This idea will click in a few routes as an alternative to Intercity trains.
