The goal is to ensure railway staff can provide immediate assistance before the rescue team arrives. Currently, over 90 railway employees from the Tatanagar and Chakradharpur divisions, among other stations, have received disaster relief training. The recent Howrah-Mumbai Mail accident highlighted the importance of such trained staff, where Chakradharpur division volunteers assisted the NDRF team. The South Eastern Railway zone is now focusing on increasing the number of disaster relief teams within its jurisdiction. In addition, the Chakradharpur division regularly conducts mock drills involving all railway staff, including those trained in first aid and fire fighting, to test their preparedness and the effectiveness of the Civil Defence team.
