Consequently, 162 passengers with confirmed tickets were given RAC berths in other coaches. When they refused, the AC and lights were switched off in both coaches. The passengers protested, but railway staff argued with them. The TTE from Gorakhpur West, who was supposed to travel from Gorakhpur to Lucknow, left the train at Gonda due to the passengers' anger and couldn't be found. The commotion started from Basti and continued until Budhwal.

di gayi aur lights bhi kat di gayi. Passengers ne jab TTE ko dhoondhna shuru kiya toh woh maidan se bhaag gaye. Ye sab isliye hua kyunki 15 third AC economy coaches ki jagah 13 third AC economy coaches aur 2 third AC coaches laga diye gaye. Is wajah se, 162 confirmed tickets wale passengers ko dusre coaches mein RAC berths di gayi. Jab unhone inhe refuse kiya toh dono coaches ki AC aur lights band kar di gayi. Passengers ne hangama kiya toh kuchh railway staff aaye aur unse bahas karne lage. Gorakhpur West se aane wala TTE, jo Gorakhpur se Lucknow tak aana tha, woh passengers ke gusse ko dekhte hue Gonda mein hi train chhod kar utar gaya aur baad mein nahin mila. Basti se shuru hua hangama Budhwal tak chalta raha.
