Booking staff are being trained and deployed for ticket checking duties on trains and stations. This suggests that the railway is moving towards closing general ticket counters in Tatanagar. In the Chakradharpur and Adityapur divisions, booking clerks are now responsible for selling general tickets at many stations, while employees are being shifted to parcel and goods sheds. This is expected to increase railway revenue and save on future employee expenses. Tatanagar is set to receive six more ATVM, bringing the total to 12. The railway has changed its regulations for operating ATVM, now allowing external individuals to operate them on commission, in addition to retired railway employees. Plans are in place to have operators on different shifts for 24-hour service at these machines.
