I traveled by West Coast Express on Friday (24th Nov). The departure station was changed from MAQ to MAJN on that day.
This train is the last departure from Mangalore Central (23:45 hrs).

Mangalore is a city where public transport starts to disappear after 8 PM, and we cannot imagine any at 10 PM.

Like me many passengers came to Central station. The Auto Rickshaw drivers were having their hay day. From Central to Junction they were charging Rs. 200 /- and the irony is they were not allowing two strangers to share the auto. They insisted each one to take separate auto to reach Junction.

The Mangalore Junction is a place which is not easy to reach. Its tucked deep inside some lane and reaching that place in dark is unimaginable for a new person to the city

The train started 30 - 45 minutes behind schedule ,and reached Chennai 1 hour late.

Railways should realize that and should have talked to either KSRTC or done elaborate arrangements for stranded passengers.

I know that Auto rickshaws demand excess fare in odd hours. I am from Chennai and here even in day light they loot us.

The point I mentioned here is, these guys were not allowing two or three passengers to club together to reach the destination. They insisted that each of us take a different vehicle.

Sorry to say sir. Railmadad is more than a joke. I have raised many complaints in this app. They insist on PNR and mobile number. The registration is prompt and the number is generated to follow up.

Then all of a sudden, the ticket gets closed, without even a resolution.
Irony is once, then gave feedback stars by themselves for a ticket they

closed without resolving.

I agree that the complaint redressal mechanism is nowhere close to the expected efficiency but going by my experience, some of the complaints are indeed taken seriously.

I've put in many complaints too but have had visible improvements on a couple of instances related to Thane railway station.

once complained about the attendant on the train not being in uniform and they were fined for the same. Additionally, I can also confirm that the complaints raised during travel are taken seriously rather than the ones raised after travel.

You can choose UTS in that option for PNR and put in any 10 digit garbage value and raise a complaint which is how I always do.

I totally understand your frustration but please don't lose hope sir.

Vivek

While agreeing with you, I have to state certain facts about MAJN:
It is railways' responsibility to ensure connectivity to stations built by them, by coordinating with local transport authorities (like KSRTC, private bus association, police etc). KSRTC would be happy to run buses from Mangalore bus stand/ State Bank/ MAQ station to MAJN Station.
As people travelling to Kerala/ TN get trains from MAQ, SR PGT is not bothered about connectivity to MAJN. Most of the Mangaloureans travel to Bangalore, Hubli, Davanagere etc in Karnataka,

and to Mumbai, Delhi and other north Indian cities. But SR PGT is adamant in not allowing Konkan trains or Karnataka trains to MAQ.

Situation may improve if 2 trains to TVC and MAS each are shifted to MAJN.

I agree on that. Even I have said in my earlier post that, when they shift the terminal at odd hours, if they have spoken to KSRTC or even any private bus operator, and arranged few buses , it would have been a win win situation.
No bus would have run empty, and they could have charged double rate, and passengers would not be complaining.

you mentioned, Mangalore Central is like a day scholar school. Literally no train movement between the two West Coast Expresses. The last to depart is 22638 and first to arrive is 22637.

Also, the state government should also make sure to streamline and make the approach road more accessible. It resembled some old city lane till we reach the railway limit of Mangalore Junction where there is a huge parking lot.

Any new comer to the city will face difficulty in reaching the station.

I keep hearing now and then that DK MP is batting for a train to Chennai via Bangalore. If that happens, they may terminate it at Junction.
