From Mallikarjun, instead of being back to Hyderabad, can go to Tirupati/Vijayawada by bus, & from there to Chennai, even can use Railways for same destinations from Markapur Road too. In my opinion, better than coming up to Hyderabad & going down south again.
From Srisailam take bus to Kurnool town 6 hrs time every 1 hr there is a service. From Kurnool take Kacheguda Chengalpattu exp to Chennai, 2nd option take APSRTC bus from Srisailam to Guntur from guntur take Hyd Chennai exp second is better in terms of time travelled.
