Disagree Agree
This train should be returned back to its original timing of Pre-Covid times . Almost every day this train leaves SMVT 2 hours late due to delay in incoming of 12863 . As a result this train reaches Howrah at odd hours of night like 1am or 2am . This is becoming a regular affair . SER should look at change the timing to evening departure . In addition we have multiple trains leaving at the same time before 12 noon from BLR . Changing the departure to late evening will surely be welcome by frequent travelers on this train . If rake shunting is a problem in Bangalore then how was it managed previously ?

Thanks . Was not aware of this policy that return train needs to leave within 3 hours if no Maintenance . Then how come 12246 or 22888 or 22864 gets priority of having Overnight Halt at Bangalore and this train 12863 which is one of the Top Revenue Generators for SER doesn't get that Benefit .
Also for 12840 I completely agree that its a useless time to leave MAS at 1900 hours instead of the previous 2345 hours . Lot of us used to avail that train through Mysore Shatabdi Chain when getting Tickets on 12864 gets tough during peak season . That option is also closed now .

of these Timing Changes really don't make any sense and is causing unnecessary discomfort to frequent travelers .

This policy is not applied to all trains In all zones. It's not hard and stick rule. If Duronto exp is also returned the same night it will leave at 2000 and reach at 100 HWH. Thank SWR for not doing it.

There is also another way. 12841 Coromandel can depart from HWH or SHM at 7:00am (like its counterpart from MAS). In that case it will reach MAS at 10:30 and can depart as 12840 MAS HWH mail at 13:30 reaching HWH 17:30 itself.
As for 12864, it should depart SMVB in the evening only, as earlier, and reach HWH at 6am.

Hi could you shed more light on this policy. I don't really think this policy is being applied everywhere!

Useful
When trains restarted after lockdown in 2020 in ZBTT they bought a new policy that the train be returned from destination after 2.5-3hrs where there is no SM. So when TT are announced they changed dep Of certain trains with 2.5 hrs turnaround time with PF maintainance.
1. HWH YPR at YPR
2. Chennai AHMD at AHMD
3. BbS/Vskp Chennai

.BBS Tirupati are certain trains passing from.Vskp.

This is not a new policy of out of box idea but already emplemented in HWH Chennai mail with RSA Coromondal. The aim of this policy is to cut down the turnaround time and increase rake utilization. But Iin reality the rake is left unused at base station for 24 hrs which should go to another train after 8-10 hrs means no fixed rake and all rakes standardized.

They tried to change timings of overnight trains SC Manmmad at MMD with dep at 1000 but was opposed by traveler associations.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
