When started they were termed as non AC version of Shatabdi trains with high average speed. Catering was mandatory, livery was distinct, priority in sections was top notch and fare was also a bit higher for both 2S and CC then current one.
But like the other breed named Duronto they were gradually degraded in all aspects,; recently launched JS were slower than counterparts, with same LHB livery coaches allotted; with the three slower rung Uttarakhand based JS' sinking the bar further.
