** Way back in 1989 when extension of shatabdi to BPL was announced, NDLS-BPL was done in 7:40 hrs (probably timing was NDLS dep 6:2) BPL 14:00-14:40 and NDLs arr 22:00.

** Today with MPS higher by 10-30 kmph throughout the route and improved signalling, the avg speed has fallen. Traffic congestion (in addition to more stoppages) seems to be the predominant factor.
