PROSPECTS:
This section is part of an alternative route to Howrah from Adra side apart from the
overburdened Asansol-Raniganj-Andal-Durgapur and Kharagpur-Tikiapara-Howrah
route, free from passing goods traffic. Distance between Bankura and Howrah will be
reduced by 41 kms, making it the shortest route between them. Henceforth, journey time
will also reduce from existing 4 hrs to 3 hrs. Most stations between BQA and MSAE
have high PPM figure towards both ends.
UPGRADATION OF MAXIMUM PERMIOSSIBLE SPEED IN
BANKURA MASAGRAM SECTION
STATUS:
Renewal and restructuring work between Bankura and Masagram will be over by
04.02.2022. Two new loops have been proposed at Beliatore and Rainagar. There are two
crossing stations i.e., Bowaichandi and Sonamukhi. Foundation of TSS at Indas is ready
to power the OHE facilitating simultaneous train operation at higher speeds.

ENHANCEMENTS:
MPS of this section must be increased to 110 KM/H in order to run express trains at an
average of 80 kmph. MEMU and Passenger services need to operate at 45 kmph average.
Signal posts are to be installed in all eligible halt stations for smooth movement of traffic
in both directions. Interlockings at all stations should be in sync to support reserved
operation.
