◾Avg Pax Train Speed Expected to increase by around 10%
◾Trains with less than 50% occupancy on average in a year will not find any place in the network. If needed such trains will be merged with other, more popular trains.

◾All passenger trains will run on a “hub-and-spoke model”.
◾The “hubs” will be cities with a population of a million or more, where all long-distance trains will terminate
◾Smaller places will be linked to the hubs through connecting trains
◾Major tourist destinations and pilgrimage centres will be classified as hubs
◾ rationalisation of the use of the rolling. Trains will have either 22 or 24 ICF coaches

Interesting. Well SBC can't handle Such kind of Pax Load Neither The Roads of Oklipuram and Majestic..
This Whole Concept if in all implemented Puts BAND Train Pax in a Very Funny Situation...

Yes have to wait and watch now railways have came up with a great idea of running more and more intercities rather than extending existing one's.

That depends right what long distance actually means. 1000 km or 1500km or 2000km or more . SBC MAS or SBC UBL / SMET Can't be Long Distance In this 200km Stoppage Criteria.. should wait and See..

How Precisely.. increase in number Of Connecting Trains will Increase Congestion eventually.
Hub and spoke sounds Great for Airways and Freight operation but I'm highly doubtful how it's gonna fit with Ir's Pax Operations. Yes we can expect Trains To Run more on Time with Zero TT but with high reservation volume there's no Guarantee for Perfect Connecting Train Can We. Even 1 hour Layover Connect can't be Guaranteed..
Best Example is Bangalore SBC for Ka, Band for KL, Ypr for this, BYPLT for that, . How it's going to be implemented in...

Even KSRTC/ BMTC is not able to manage bus services to different bus stands in Bangalore. They are running connection bus from majestic to Mysore road satellite bus stand only.
No connection from MCTC to Hosur road, Yelahanka, Yeshwanthpur, KR Puram, or Kanakapura road side. Every one is forced to go via Majestic, thereby crowding already congested area.
No connection to Shanti Nagar bus stand from MCTC/ KR PURAM, Yeshwanthpur, Yelahanka, Whitefield etc.
