ISO certification is not provided by govt. It is independently audited by third parties before being certified. It is certified because of proper documentation of the processes involved in any entity, be it running a train or managing a station or a manufacturing plant. This certification has to be renewed periodically. It means strict quality is maintained in all process involved in working of the particular entity. Govt. has nothing to do with it. WCR's Shane-Bhopal has been ISO train for over a decade. Recently a lot of stations all over India got ISO certifications, but we'll need to wait to see if these can maintain the quality down the years. With WR, it is more about running trains on time than anything else. Most likely because WR probably has the highest number of MST travelers compared to all other zones.
