I whole-heartedly agree. I still remember when Ratnagiri was actually upgraded to superfast and speeded-up by 3-4 hours and halts REMOVED. It used to halt only at Kalyan, Igatpuri, Bhusaval, Itarsi, Jabalpur, Satna, Allahabad and Bhadohi and had a Duronto-like aura about it. Sadly, over time, it had been dumped with halts and slowed down as well. From what I heard, it doesn't get top priority anymore.
So, Varanasi definitely needs a Duronto-level train to Mumbai. Since, we already have a slot till Allahabad, I would like the frequency of this Duronto to be increased to four-days-a-week with the train going till Varanasi on the two additional days. Agreed, that it...
more... cannot be turned around the same day from Varanasi, so an additional rake might be necessary.
Heck, when a packed Mumbai-ADI Duronto gets extended to Rajkot because the CM of Gujarat wants it, the popular Mumbai-Jaipur Duronto gets extended to Hisar, of all the places, and the Howrah-New Delhi Duronto gets rerouted via Jasidih because Mr. MP Babu wants to board from there, why not connect Varanasi with Mumbai with a Duronto-level train which can truly benefit the PUBLIC (and not some politician)?
