BAHRAICH: Railway minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has granted permission to lay down broad gauge rail line from Bahraich to Burhwal (Barabanki) railway station. With this, Bahraich will have a direct rail link Lucknow. Seema Khatoon, a lawyer, has been struggling to get the project sanctioned for the last ten years and now her efforts bore fruitful results. It is noted that Bahraich had only metre gauge service from Gonda to Mailani. After laying down of new broad gauge rail line, not only Bahraich station will be upgraded but the people of Fakharpur and Kaiserganj will get an opportunity to travel to the state capital. Many new stations will be constructed. An additional bridge on Ghaghra will be also be constructed. Khatoon launched an agitation for the rail line ten years back. The then railway minister Nitish Kumar laid down the foundation stone for the conversion of Bahraich-Gonda rail line into broad gauge seven year back and it was presumed that the rail services in Bahraich will improve. But the work was not completed and the dream of improvement in rail service remained unfulfilled. The order for the acquisition of land for the construction of over bridge on railway crossing near Dargah Shariff has also been issued.
It has been note 3 things 1. Additional bridge on Ghaghra is already constructed 2. Fly over is already constructed over Dargah Shariff Crossing 3. Bahraich is already broad gauge line till Gonda.
