#1 Kanpur Metro is getting only 6000 ridership daily.
Q1 Can you share source please ?
#2 which is below then expected.
Q2 What was expected ridership ?
#3 but after connectivity with other public transport places(Bus stand, Railway Station) This will increase.
S3 Indeed for sure. cent percent.

I agree ridership of Kanpur Metro is less because it hardly covers 9km long with 9 stations only [Priority Corridor] which doesnt cover high density traffic area as of now.
#kanpurMETRO is considered as India's fastest Metro built across the country in ~25months (774 days to be precise) beating
#lucknowMetro (built in approx 3years) inspite of the fact that KanpurMETRO construction was halted for approx 5months due to Covid-19 Lockdown.
UPMRC is working tirelessly for which I have huge respect but it still has scope of Improvement.
Though KanpurMETRO was inaugurated on 28 Dec' 21 but the Smart Card was launched on 05 Apr' 2023 (after 1 1⁄4 years or 463 days) . This was very disappointing. I was the first customer to be issued NCMC Kanpur Metro Smart Card. ;-) refer
/blog/post/5685334Last mile connectivity even today from the current metro stations is not at all good.
Unfortunately it still does not have ATMs and other supporting infra. I have tried talking to metro officials couple of time regarding the same.
Though fare is fairly priced but it would have been 'cheery on the cake' if it was priced competitively same as that of
#DelhiMetro.
Nevertheless,
I am very hopeful about its footfall after Motijheel - Kanpur Central section (~7km approx) opens [Target date : Feb 2024 , before General Elections]
The city needs a reliable public transport due to high density road traffic and encroachments.
RITES Survey claims 7.63 lakhs commuters will be using KanpurMetro by 2024 considering if both corridors are built (bit skeptical about it)
Until 2021, even Mumbai and Bengaluru had ridership between 4-5 lakhs then.
even UPMRC accepts that KanpurMetro would have better footfall than LucknowMetro.
Success of any Public Transit depends on multiple factors like last mile connectivity, etc with Primary factor being a good route/alignment.
Any Metro operations of Initial Construction is not very overwhelming, be it delhi metro. but metro corporations say they want to passengers, staff, etc to get accustomed for future.
I have a lot to write but it will get long.
Let me know if you are interested to know more. :)
