The nearest UTS counter for me is in Saidapet Railway station(SP),it is an Suburban station.To travel to Coimbatore can i buy an open unreserved ticket (or) an sleeper class open ticket from Saidapet To Coimbatore Junction(they issue open tickets) and can i catch Nilagiri Express from Chennai Central(MAS).
If berths are available in Nilagiri Express,can i pay EFT to tte from Chennai central(MAS) to Coimbatore Junction(CBE) with this open ticket(SP to CBE via MAS) or is it necessary to buy open ticket from Chennai Central(MAS) to Coimbatore Junction(CBE)?

In case if you buy a sleeper class ticket you will pay reservation charges and superfast charges, if applies, only. But if you buy an unreserved ticket the EFT will issued with difference of fare between MAS-CBE + reservation charges and superfast charges.
simply request the reservation clerk to issue you a ticket dated dd/mm/yyyy...to get a ticket 3 days in advance the journey should be more than 200kms...if you request the clerk,he will issue you a passenger first class ticket upto 3 days in advance but i ll suggest you to get a super fast mail/express ticket and get it upgraded...
i feel super-fast charges have to paid before one boards the train, otherwise the tte can penalize you. according to rule no 16 on page 274 of the southern zone time table if you get detected traveling in super-fast train without surcharge ticket, will be fined the super-fast charge plus rs 250 penalty
So the conclusion here is i can buy an open unreserved ticket from Saidapet(SP) To Coimbatore Junction(CBE) and i can board Nilagiri Express from Chennai Central(MAS) and If berths are available in Nilagiri Express(IE, in SL or 3A or 2A),i can pay EFT to tte from Chennai central(MAS) to Coimbatore Junction(CBE) and travel till CBE.
I suggest you check this again with a couple of people. Remember the bit about superfast ticket to be bought before you climb into the train
