(1) It was reported that farmers in MP given interest free loan with a 10 % rebate, i.e. after taking loan of Rs 50000, no interest is to be paid and only 45000 Rs has to be paid. Now they want total waiver! along with minimum 50% more profit on cost of production.
(2) Farmers get very low price of their produce, the reason is undue profits made by the middlemen which lead to retail price going as high as 3-10 times the selling price of farmers.
(3) Farmers should make co-operatives...
more... and make arrangements to sell their produce directly to consumers and government should help them out by providing them facilities, instead of draining the precious resources in loan waiver. Loan waivers give rise to more corruption.
(4) Proper cold storages & warehouses need to be provided. Transport facilities (with refrigeration) are required to reduce wastage during transportation (esp of fruits/vegetables)
(5) Rich corporates are given loan waiver on the grounds of bankruptcy/ inability to repay loan, so prima facie, the demand of loan waiver for farmers appear justified. But it must be note If the loan virus spreads, there is no end. Farmers of all states (Rich as well as poor, very poor hardly get loan) shall demand the same.
It is unfortunate that people are resorting to activities like rail roko etc, giving miscreants a field day

Now they want total waiver! along with minimum 50% more profit on cost of production. It is normal marketing trend that, if crop is bumper the price tends to come down and when crop is less, price tend to go up. It is impractical to ensure high jump in procurement price when crop is bumper.
(2) Farmers really get very low price of their produce, the reason is undue profits made by the middlemen which lead to retail price going as high as 3-10 times the selling price of farmers
(3) Farmers should make co-operatives and make arrangements to sell their produce directly to consumers, and government should help them out by providing suitable marketing facilities, instead of draining the precious resources in loan waiver. Such a mass loan waiver give rise to more corruption and promote tendency of treating loan as a lottery & not repaying it.
(4) Proper coldstorages & warehouses need to be provided to farmers. Transport facilities (with refrigeration) are required to reduce wastage during transportation (esp of fruits/vegetables)
(5) Rich corporates are given loan waiver on the grounds of bankruptcy/ inability to repay loan, so prima facie, the demand of loan waiver for farmers appear justified to many. But it must be noted that mostly corporates payback their loans and a few falter in connivance with bank officials. But if the loan waiver virus spreads, there is no end to it. Farmers of all states , Rich as well as poor (very poor hardly get loan), shall demand the loan waiver (to the tune of a few lac crore Rs for nation). Question is, who is going to pay for this huge waiver amount.
(6) Then will be turn of small traders and other “pseudo poors” to go on stir/ rail-blockade for loan waiver! India is becoming mobocracy, thanks to political expediency of our leaders.
(7) Opposition who ruled out country for about 90% of time since independence, never gave loan waiver during their rule, and are now working overtime to fuel the fire, which is ultimately going to burn the nation. They are busy branding govt as “anti farmer” for taking political mileage, as if they were “pro farmer” during their 60 years of rule! Ruling Govt is now hard pressed to save its votebank and Indian Economy is going to suffer.
(8) Our country is progressing fast on the path of disaster due to extreme political expediency of opposition and inability of Govt to take politically tough decisions to such moves.
