* China had been the flag bearer to adopt the goodness of rail travel in the 21st century.
* It is only country which has multiplied its network rather than just expanding. In 1947 India has Rail network of 60000 RKM as compared to 20000 RKM of China, Today China has about 125000 RKM against just 66000 RKM of India!
* China has achieved speed upgradation from 100-110kmph to 160kmph on its conventional rail network by embarking upon track and train speed upgradation programme from 1997-2004 before bringing HST rail in 2007.
...

* First HST Bullet train (Shinkanshen-Japan) commenced its journey 53 years ago in 1964 with operational speed of 210kmph. With no existence of HST network about 10 years ago, today it has over 20000 RKMs of HST network which is more than 50% of total HST network in the world. More 10000 RKMs is planned in next 4-5 years. Addition of 2000 RKM of HST network every year is a record.
* China has extended its rail connectivity in tough Himalayan region i.e. Tibet, Nepal border, Arunanchal Pradesh border etc.
* China has operationalised intercontinental freight routes to Spain(14000kms), Britain(12000 kms) to facilitate its exports/ imports and to become global leader in logistics industry.
* China has achieved reliable, faster, cheaper goods transportation to far off countries and:
(1) propped the commerce, services & industries through HST network, and
(2) achieved logistic superiority through improved freight connectivities,
(3) achieved strategic upper hand through improved connectivities to far off borders and nations.

On the other hand, IR gradually got hijacked by the vote hungry politicians, who used it to indirectly purchase vote and gain power rather than doing something for the development of railways in India!
What IR wants to do in next 2 decades have already been achieved and demonstrated by China, still IR continues to struggle!

Its not like that India couldn't do that, we could also export/import goods to & from Iran & central Asia and we have locomotives & rolling Stones well enough capable of doing but the biggest obstacle in doing all this is Pakistan. China got the advantage of having a normal relationship with the in route countries+those countries had basic rail infrastructure. In the case of India its just the reciprocal of that.

china had the advantage of trans siberian railway all it needed to do was to connect with it and it reached easily to all european countries. Of course it also had the advantage of Russia and European countries being a non-terrorist countries while in case of India we all know how it is.

Yes, if India has to establish a Rail link with Iran it will have to construct a Rail line transversing whole of Pakistan between Lahore & Balochistan border.

yaar bahot mushkil aur Pakistan ka simple usool hai na khud ki development karo aur na dusre ko karne do. agar India ne asman ya underground bhi chalaya tab bhi usne adanga daalna hi daalna. dusri taraf hai China wo bhi same hai apni development karo aur dusre ko na karne so currently humaare international routes band hai better hai hum national ko hi better kare.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
