The proposed route is directed meant for traffic south bound from JBP. Let us have a view onof the following facts and developments pertaining to existing capacity/ augmentation of South bound traffic in the JBP region :
(1) There is already a double electrified trunk line (NDLS-MAS) going parallel to the proposed line from Itarsi (about 245 km west of JBP) to NGP. Tripling of this line is also in progress.
(2) Double track Dedicated freight corridor has been taken up (Budget2016-17) parallel to the above line which will take care of all...
more... the freight train requirements of the region.
(3) Jabalpur-Gondia line running almost parallel to it towards Gondia (130km east of NGP) in eastern direction is under advanced stage of gauge conversion and scheduled to complete in 2018/2019
(4) About 90 km east of JBP, Katni –BSP double electrified line is there to take traffic southwards and its tripling taken up in last budget.
Keeping in view the above info, any body can say that further north south new line is required or not. But nothing is impossible, one heavy weight is enough to make it happen.

There are many a time compulsions for the political leaders to pass such resolutions in order to keep the local populace pacified and to keep their vote-bank intact. If they are serious then they will meet MoR, offer to share cost of land, 50% of project cost and request to go ahead with feasibility and traffic survey so that the actual construction can be taken up. Then MoR will hardly be in a position to deny unless the traffic/ rate of return is very low for IRlys, even after making deductions for the investment done by state govt.
Public generally know what they need (here every thing is most welcome), but they seldom know what the IRly or the nation need. Such resolution is enough to make them believe that their demand has been heard and shall be a reality soon.
