The bare minimum of a premium fare is the normal fare + tatkal charges. So rs 1000 was the minimum that could be charged and since the demand wasnt there it stayed at rs 1000 and didn't increase. Whats the fuss about?
.
"The normal price is rs 1800 but passengers had to pay rs 2300'. Again rs 1800 + tatkal charges + catering charges comes to rs 2300. So where's the loot?

Now to answer the ignorant Mr Thomas- Please dont see the word premium in lieu of worlds like luxury, comfort etc. When a premium spl is run, it may create extra burden on the existing infrastructure, may need more people who may be roped on by paying OT- and so the excess fare is justified. How much excess fare is to be charged is simply determined by the demand. In this case, they have charged the bare minimum excess price since there was no demand. If you are working in an establishment and on some days you are called to work extra time or over time as its called, would u not expect anything extra from your organisation? And if your organisation is a service based org, would it not pass on that extra charges to its customer or will it pay from its pocket?
When Mr Thomas calls railways a fraud, would he also mind calling his bhaajiwala or local bus operator who also increase the prices based on demand a fraud too? Or the local baker who increases the prices of plum cakes when Christmas is around?
