Spending on new lines and doubling are required. 100% agreed. But, what is the use if existing infrastructure is not utilised? UBL-MRJ-Pune is totally under utilised. UBL-LD-MAO has capacity to take more load. There should be a concrete proposal for one new SF train between Mumbai and Bangalore, which is practical and implementable.
There are few practical ways of doing it:
1. Extending YPR-SUR to Pune. GR people will oppose it tooth and nail. Not possible.
2....
more... Splitting Basava Express at HG with half number of coaches to SUR and Mumbai. Both directions, it is suitable and possible. But finds no proper support from our dear members.
3. 5 days a week CSTM-NCJ/ TVC can be speeded up by 2 hours easily, with a stop at YNK by around 0830 will also serve the purpose.
3. New train through UBL. Hence, I suggest that the TT of proposed new LTT-UBL train can be modified to run as as LTT-Bangalore SF, satisfying UBL passengers as well as Bangalore.
4. Even Gujarat/ RJ to YPR trains can be speeded up to reach YPR/ SBC by night 2200. They can avoid running via BAY/ GTL. One exclusive train from GJ/ RJ can be run via UBL-BAY-GTL-DMM and can be extended to TPTY, which can provide new connections also.
5. Super crawler Chalukya expresses can be made to run as TEN/PDY express for 3 days and other 3 days fully to SBC with proper speeding up. After Miraj, the train moves at snail speed upto Bangalore. Return journey is still horrible, with 2-1/2 hours waiting at YPR.
Movement of trains on zig zag routes within state if avoided, we can get more free time and coaches to run one proper train.
