In Howrah-Kalka Mail 3AC general fare is 540 while Tatkal fare is 1015. Why Tatkal surcharge is so high in this train?

in tatkal fare will be charged for min 500 km distance irrespective of ur boarding pt...this is new rule which came into effect

for sc machilipatnam exp people travel from sc to bza 350km same is for bangalore chennai sector then how will they charge according to diatance travelled or sflat 500km sorry i am using mobile so couldnt fares for different locations and trains to as ertain
they'll be charged min fare no matter how much distt they're travelling.min fare for tatkal is 500 km fare+tatkal surcharge
