I had traveled three times in SDAH NDLS Duronto in June 2010, Sept 2011 and July 2014.
All the journeys of mine had been a "indelible one" in all respect.
The notable positive sides of this train are:
1 Awesome food(both dinner& breakfast) ,praiseworthy punctuality and humble behavior of the "Catering Staff" with respect to serving the food and dealings with

the commuters .
2 Compartments are clean and well maintained by the rail staff of Narkeldanga carshed SDAH
3 Good service of the sweepers on board regarding the maintenance of cleanliness of the lavatories.
4 Clean bedsheets & linens provided to passengers
5 Cooperative & amicable behaviour of on board TTEs regarding allotment of berths to RAC/Waitlisted passengers
6 Nice speed and punctuality maintained all over the journey.
To conclude this is one of the best train I think from Kolkata to NDLS route even better than Rajdhani.(From the viewpoint of Fare & other amenities).
I also traveled in Rajdhani in the year 2011,2012 but the amenities are not upto the mark and in fact of poor standard when compared to SDAH Duronto.

3 Many nostalgic ideals are associated with this train
so my only request is to
"Change it's Loco Link to WAP7 permanently and reinstate the glory of this marvelous service of IR literally and if possible make it a "DAILY SERVICE" like 12267/12268 Mumbai Ahmedabad Duronto".

Now it seems that the New Delhi - Sealdah Duronto Express is better than it's Cousin Sealdah Sister (Sealraja)... But
Regarding making it a "Daily Service" a third LHB Rake is required because at present it is running 4 days in a week with two set of LHB Rake in the following manner:
Rake 1: Sun 12259 from SDAH and 12260 from NDLS on Mon

Regarding WAP7
1st of all WAP7 is limited in number and nothing to do with the "Non stop" nature of this train because WAP4 is doing the Job satisfectorily for all Durontos so rail board don't want to provide P7 for it mainly due to lack of 3 phase loco maintenance at ELS Narkeldanga as it is not running all the days of a week and the loco will have to stand idle at ELS Narkeldanga without proper maintenance by the concerned staff.It is also the main reason of withdrawing WAP5 for this train by NR(GZB Shed)
In fact the WAP7 of Rajdhani is also not properly maintained due to lack of training of ELS staff so in future great possibilities are there to switch over the link of Raj to P4. Already Poorva has seen with P4 many times by many fans and those pics are saved as "Valuable Reference" in this forum. Thanks to them....
Furthermore the total production of P5 and P7 is very few now and totally under research and modifications are made by CLW as per the recommendation from the Rail Board(Please see CLW's Official Website or Entry 1239526 for reference)
Considering current scenario WAG 9 can be used as an appropriate replacement of P7 & P5 or P4 because it has a good track record of carrying "Elite Trains' like Duronto,Raj etc.
The same I discussed in Entry 1240745.

But still YPR,NDLS-HWH durontos have been hauled by G9's before but they are made solely for freight. Yea third rake is required but I guess SDAH -GHY Prem is shared with Sdah Duronto. Narkeldanga ELS is a point in the bifurcation of WAP 5 from SDAH duronto. But still I would like to engage a GZB P5 for SDAH Duronto again in feasable !!
There is not a problem of no. of P7 there are nearly 20 P7's at Bamangachi(HWH) ELS and only HWH raj , Kalka mail , Coalfield ,Black,Double decker,Shatabdi has regular HWH P7 link. So a HWH P7 can be provided if ELS at Narkelbagan can manage it as well as the regular GZB P7 with SDAH Raj.

But to get P7/P5 the nod of ER Rail Board is very crucial which mainly depends on the maintenance of such loco.
If the staff is not make adept in 3 phase loco maintenance by giving training mandatorily then it won't be possible to provide any "Microprocessor Loco" namely: P5,P7 or G9 by the concerned Rail Board and the Future of these Locos(i.e P5,P7) will be gloomy and it's production may have to be stopped by CLW........

Actually bamangacchi ELS has stuff to maintain 3 Phase Locos. Its filled with GZB'z and HWH'z all the time. Problem is for the SDAH side. SDAH RAj gets the only P7 now because of ill maintained. Belive me last three four times I saw SDAH raj with the oldest GZB'z and they were nothing like white stallions of HWH. HWH ELS maintains loco nicely. But the problem arises with giving an P7 more to Narkelbagan ELS.

You forgot falaknuma!! MAS SRC is not even given a P4 from SRC...it runs with M4 and YPR Duronto could get an LGD P5 if it was scheduled to take a technical hat at VSKP. All the trains you listed are true contenders of a P7 and SHM SC AC exp is hauled by LGD P7 upto VSKP. I wonder why LGD or RPM P7's are not sent upto HWH...their maintenance can be done at HWH ELS but ECoR doest have the capacity to have some aggressive action on their tracks.

SER has TATA WAG9's. If they could be maintained then P7's could be too. SRC is almost the biggest ELS and Nearby HWH is same as well so I guess HWH P7's could be used for Mumbai bound trains. Chennai/Banglore bound trains could get LGD/RPM P7 from VSKP.

AS both of these Durontos have Technical Halt at Nagpur...(Ajni Shed is just 3 kms away from Nagpur)

NR,NCR,WR,CR has P5's in excess with BRC shed. SER is kinda tenant to ER at HWH. Many times I have seen HWH P4's to be attached with south bound trains or other SER trains like Gurudev Exp , BBn Janshatabi , CSTM duronto , YPR Duronto etc o this means HWH P7 can also be given easily then the question of no Knowledge wont arrive because locos will be handled by HWH ELS. When its about Chennai/Bangalore/HYB side trains I can understand the inefficiency of EcoR but for Mumbai bound trains P7 can be managed as Purushottam and BBS Raj has GZB P7 links from KGP upto NDLS. This can be done with other trains to Mumbai or upper western side. then AJNI P7's and BRC P5's would be visible in ER's premises. If you see carefully HWH ELS...it is full of GZB P7's too...

You are concerning about the loco stocks. I am concerned about the SER zone being able to handle a 3rd phase loco...which is actually yes. SER can manage 3rd phase locos. Just see this fact. SER has only two trains hauled by P7 which are for NDLS. The other two routes goes to CSTM and MAS/SBC/HYB. NDLS route is fully enhanced for P7's but MAS route has EcoR in between and CSTM route has the area DC current Loco area after IGP. These two facts lead to the fact that LGD/AJNI/RPM WAP 7's are not reaching SRC shed at all and for confirmation of this you may see Chennai mail,Eastcoast,SHM AC exp after VSKP they get P7's more often which proves inefficiency of EcoR and IGP-CST section stops AJNI/BRC locos to enter SRC. But SER is fully equipped to control a 3 phase loco which is proved by Purushottam,Rajdhani

You can do one thing. There is the number of Soumitra Dattamajumder(Public Relations Officer) of SER in the Railway Timetable of SER(Sept 2014 Edition) if he has any mail ID inform these details to him and ask for the actual reason of not taking P7 or P5 in SRC shed.
Or
You can provide your "Opinion" regarding this matter by filling up the feedback Form in CLW's Official Website.From CLW you can know whether future allotment of P5/P7 has been made to SER.
Or
You may take the help of any Admin member to know the actual reason regarding this decision of SER of not taking P5/P7 in its SRC or other sheds, I guess they may help you.
I don't know whether railway officials actually take the views discussed in this forum or not.

Just communicate with the ground staff because they know better..walk in to HWH/SRC whenever Mumbai mail , Coro , MAS AC exp leaves and just wait for the loco pilot to be stationery for a while and then ask him about the scenario...vo apna dukhda sunaenge fir :P. i have done that once when I was travelling on SRC MAS Ac Exp and I saw a VSKP WAM 4 to get attached..I was furious and asked the loco pilot.All those stuff which I said was from there only. They are actually jealous of Loco Pilots of HWH because they get the luxury of 3rd phase locos but SER pilots are tied with dirty old WaM and WaP's. SRC. Now its only possible if HWH P7 is provided to Steel exp or BBN Janshatabdi etc.
SER easily fetches the speeds for the trains like janshatabdi @ more than 110Kmph--> /blog/post/1237861 .
So SER is ready but try to understand the fact that here is nothing to be an official to know about...its clear and you just have to wait for the supporting zones to be ready.

If the answer is " The Narkeldanga Theory" as we discussed previously then it's very difficult to get HWH P4 or if it is any other reason then SER has to solve it immediately so

Keen vigilance is required whether there is any allotment of P7/P5/G9 to SER in its SRC Shed by CLW in the Current fiscal as well as in the coming years........ if any allotment of P7/P5/G9 is seen to SRC Shed at once it should be reported in this Forum with detailed explanation and relevant pics(If Necessary)
From this information I guess in future 3 Phase Locos will be allotted to SRC(it's my guess which is purely hypothetical)
All members are requested to substantiate it if any positive result(i.e allotment of P5/P7/G9 to SRC) is found and keep a "Sharp Vigilence' regarding the allotment of 3 phase locos to SRC by other Zones or CLW.

Why an ER loco in SER is so uncommon for you ?? There is hardly any physical difference between both sides...they are different on paper. whenever an HWH loco is provided you have to get one thing that it was never ever put in SRC shed at all...it was brought directly from HWH ELS.

As per your opinion 'Loco Pilots of SER are jealous of Loco Pilots of HWH because they get the luxury of 3rd phase locos but SER pilots are tied with dirty old WaM and WaP's. I got to know that SRC is ready to serve 3 Phase locos but only when any one of those come at SRC. Now its only possible if HWH P7 is provided to Steel exp or BBN Janshatabdi etc."

Heheh !! Why would a HWH P4 would go to SRC shed for any reason?? HWH ELS is still in function right?? If any train needs HWH P4 at SER side then loco can go directly from banmangachi ELS as they do currently !!

There is no need of SRC WAP-7 for Utkal Express and BBS Rajdhani express..bcoz both the trains r now hauled by WAP-7s end to end..Utkal express is regularly getting a TKD WAP-7 from PURI-HW whereas BBS Rajdhani (both 22823-24 & 22811-12) is getting a GZB P7 fonted WAP-7(on 5-6 days a week) from BBS-NDLS.

What inefficiency of ECoR u r talkin abt ?? though ur this post is an old post bt still let me infrm u tht trains upto BBS n PURI r gettin WAP-7s... now BBS Rajdhani is getting a WAP-7 upto BBS n Utkal exp is gettin it too upto Puri.. even BBS duronto is seen with P7 at BLS...but the irony is that sometimes Bbs rajdhani is also seen with SRC WAP-4...it clearly means that after loco reversal at KGP this is provided with a P4 n that P7(which comes frm NDLS with BBS Raj) is used to haul some other train... if P4 is given to it from NDLS then it gets a GZB P4 not SRC's..

Utkal exp gets a TKD WAP-7 regularly bcoz it doesnt undergo loco reversal at KGP n it passes through Hijili...so KGP officials don't get any chance to give it's loco to any other train

Why LGD WAP-7 is not given upto HWH is still a mystery..but what u have written that ECoR doen't have the capacity to run P7 is completely wrong.. For your information SCR does not even give LGD WAP-4 up to HWH/SHM/SDAH...many trains such as Coromandal exp, Falaknuma exp, SC-SHM Exp , East coast exp and many more south bound trains get LGD P4 up to VSKP only...after loco change and rake reversal at VSKP all these trains get SRC WAP-4/ HWH WAP-4/VSKP WAP-4.. And already 3 trains of ECoR ( BBS Rajdhani ,BBS Duronto and Utkal Express ) are getting WAP-7s of GZB and TKD end to end..
