I won't mind their merging IF SWR or CR plans to keep Nizamuddin KSK Via Pune route same as it is today.
There were some rumours about diversion of Nizamuddin KSK Via Pandharpur, Kurduvadi, Daund Route. If that happens then Chandigarh waali KSK NEEDS to be via Pune only as there'd be negligible patronage from Chandigarh, Ambala Cantt if Chandigarh KSK route is also changed via Pandharpur, Kurduvadi, Daund.
Pandharpur, Kurduvadi might be able to fill Delhi bound train by a long shot but Chandigarh bound train is definitely useless to them.

Not quite,
Chandigarh waali also gets mainly filled from Nizamuddin only that too for Pune.
Have traveled in Chandigarh KSK for years during B.Com days used to go to Mysuru to meet parents there.
Decent patronage from Chandigarh Ambala to Pune, it won't seriously affect Nizamuddin, they have other options for Pune.
