There is no alternate route. There are few trains already to Bangalore. This would be helpful for both railways and passengers.
I am not talking about the alternate route, in-fact i am making a point here that the route which you suggested is very difficult (HMRDA)....Kochi to Solapur via Managlore , Arsikere , Hubli...
Mangalore to Hubli via Karwar ,Madgoan and Londa would best route

speed restriction is between SBHR & SKLR. its 40kmph. Its written in the starting point of the ghats.

No. Freight trains were the only ones which used to run regularly between MAQ and UBL :) I heard in MG era, trains were there.
