Thanks. They are railway staff who stand between coaches to have a look whether the coaches dont get decoupled while descending ghats or taking sharp curves. Also they help when a locomotive faces issues while climbing 1:23 gradient
Aman Lodge railway line had been opened to public from 23/09/2012. Earlier you had to take a motor car ride from Neral to Dastur point/Aman Lodge, get down at Aman Lodge point and walk 3kms to Matheran station. After starting this line in the end of September 2012, it will be operational in monsoon also and will benifit senior citizens a lot who had to walk 3kms with luggage or do horse riding. In just 10 days, 11,500 tourists were travelling in this train. Even non monsoon, services run from Neral - Matheran - Neral and also Aman Lodge - Matheran - Aman lodge
